Building a border wall “undermines who we are as a country,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told a news conference on Thursday. She said she is “opposed to the wall”—“politically, substantively, officially, spiritually, religiously, personally.”
She also described recent ICE raids across the country as “another assault on our values.”
“In the past week, we have witnessed ICE raids across our nation targeting parents, students and a DACA-protected dreamer...We have seen press reports that federal immigration agents went to the El Paso County courthouse and arrested an undocumented woman who had just received a protective order after suffering domestic violence. The agents apparently detained the woman after receiving a tip, possibly from her alleged abuser. What is this?” Pelosi asked. “You know, It’s supposed to be—they’re only supposed to be—” (She trailed off and did not finish her thought.) …

I hope that Pelosi and the rest of her ilk are about to find out who we are as a country. We are Americans. We live in a sovereign country, the United States of America, and we don’t like illegals trespassing in our country:
Those of us who don’t hire illegals to pick our crops, maintain our lawn, watch our children, or clean our homes deeply resent those who commit the crime of employing those who commit the crime of coming here illegally.
Those who have lost children to drugs sold by illegals and violence initiated by illegals deeply resent the presence of those illegals.
Those who pay taxes and have to support the burden imposed by illegals deeply resent that unlawful imposition.
Those who have to live next to a house packed with multiple illegal families deeply resent the noise, the mess, and the danger of that overcrowding.
Those who care about the sick and the poor among actual Americans deeply resent the diversion of government benefits and private charity from those who deserve our support to those merely willing to break the law.
It is time for Pelosi to find out who we are as a country and what our values really are.
