I think I read reports that an older sister dropped the girls off. It could be that the parents of the girls had no idea they were headed there that day. This could be especially true if they went there to meet someone and they didn’t want their parents to know. Me personally... no I would not drop off my teenage daughters at such a place but I’m considered the overprotective type.

Not meant to impune the girls in any way, but hope they check their face book, texts, etc.

Maybe they meant to meet up with someone they thought was another kid(s).

Lots of creepy people out there who deceive innocent kids like that.

These ex-railroad-paths are extremely popular, common walking and hiking paths around Indiana. I suppose to some, it might look like an isolated area, but it’s not. It’s rural, but not isolated. These walking and hiking paths are known to have low crime and to be very safe, statistically speaking. I can’t fault the parents for letting the kids go for a hike. It does seem like law enforcement suspects that in this case, there was some sort of prearranged meeting, but I am just guessing based off of the law enforcement statements about “knowing what’s going in in your kid’s lives.”

I’d let my teenagers walk and hike in the woods, but I won’t let them have smartphones.

why can't our kids and our grandkids BE KIDS?....why must we keep them locked up?

part of the problem is that nowadays, a parent is deemed terrible if they give the slightest freedom to their kids, to roam and hike and explore.....

I was taking public transportation with friends when I was their age-—in Boston and Cambridge.

There were no automobiles in any of our families.

OK, so you’d have no problem dropping off your girls there. No problem. What you do is your biz.

Bikers had a memorial ride to raise funds for the girls’ families. 6,200 riders raised 125,000 dollars.

Small community, big hearts!

I live in a town smaller than Delphi & we have our own Nickle Plate Trail. Runs 44(?) miles from Kokomo to Rochester. It crosses the river on an abandoned railroad trestle.

The photo is from the phone of one of the girls. She also recorded a man's voice.
