The CIA has always done surveys/observations on political parties in foreign countries, esp. the Communist parties and Socialist parties which were either directed by Moscow or affiliated with Moscow, Havana, Peking, the old East Germany/Stasi, the Czech STB, and other Soviet Block KGB arms.
In some cases the Socialist Parties (such as Allende’s, the French, Spanish, possibly the old Portuguese one, the Japanese Socialist Party (ties to No. Korea and Moscow back then),the Greek Socialists under the Papandreu KGB family, Cheddi Jagan’s Peoples Party in Guyana, etc), were more Marxist than the Moscow-directed ones. This has changed over time but we are talking about over 60 years of surveillance against our communist/Marxist enemies.
In fact, the State Department used to put out an annual report on the status of Communist Parties around the world, a sort of mini Almanac of their size, leadership, policies and Soviet ties.
Time for some people in the media to grow up and read a book or to instead of making up “fake news”, spewing “stupid news” or deliberately spreading Soviet-style “disinformation” is pretend news.
