President Donald Trump is set to announce Alexander Acosta as his new pick to head the Department of Labor, less than a day after his first choice for the job, Andy Puzder, withdrew from consideration.

Acosta served as assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division under President George W. Bush, selected by the president in August 2003. Acosta was a member of the National Labor Relations Board and also served as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division. Most recently, he was the dean of Florida International University College of Law.

If confirmed, Acosta would be the first Hispanic in Trump's cabinet.

I have no idea who this guy is, but being Hispanic should give him points among Democrats ...

Sure. Just like Ben Carson being black should give him points among Democrats...

This is a bad pick. Very disappointing. The guy is a Lib, he even taught “Latino Studies” whatever the hell that is. A champion for Muzzie “rights”.
It’s just a bad pick.

There is no comparison, the previous pick was excellent. Acosta has a big government mindset.

"being Hispanic should give him points"

Nah, he's probably a white Hispanic.

So, no points.

He really is a white Hispanic, like a lot of the former Cuban elite. I might have thought he was Jewish or maybe Italian from his photos. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the “news” outlets don’t even mention his ethnicity (it would hurt their “Trump is a bigot” propaganda screed too much).

Good find. I sure hope this was know by Trump and whoever is doing the vetting in advance and they are prepared for the attack. This sounds really sleazy and could lead to a lot of salacious questions and opposition witness testimony.
