Ding, Dong: The Individual Mandate is Dead ( Obama Care : IRS )
FrontPage Magazine ^ | February 15, 2017 | Daniel Greenfield

No part of ObamaCare was more hated by the average person or more illegal than the individual mandate. The mandate was one of ObamaCare's corrupt bargains. This one delivered a captive audience to insurance companies in returning for insuring those they didn't want to insure.

Obama claimed to want to help the uninsured, yet he also smeared them as "free riders" when what he was really doing was forcing healthy young people to buy useless insurance they couldn't afford as a bribe to companies for taking on his base. Meanwhile the forced signups would be reported as proof that ObamaCare was helping the uninsured.

This was the cynical game that ObamaCare played with the mandate. The mandate was unconstitutional. And now it's dead.

Just saying.

The IRS looks to not focus on the individual mandate.

But Trump seems to be the only Presidential candidate anywhere, who wants to FIX our healthcare system.

Our healthcare system is massively expensive, and needs badly, to be reigned in.

Trump seems to still be considering options. Sure he is reigning in Obamacare, but he is not allowing the mess we had before, either.

Trump is doing a good job, thus far.

In my opinion.

Phony title. Has the mandate been repealed? All the article says is that the IRS will display no interest in your health care. As long as the individual mandate is still enshrined in law, it is not dead. And then all it will take is for another democrat to take over the white house to get the IRS to begin again to display interest in your health care.

Agree. And I’m not sure this isn’t perhaps the way to go...death by a thousand paper cuts vs. blowing it to hell...

If the IRS isn’t going to be able to enforce the mandate, that’s what you might call YUGE! Next, start eliminating the crap penalties and taxes like the one on medical devices, and we already know that the exchanges that haven’t failed soon will. Let the insurance companies go ahead and jack up the rates, people who can’t afford insurance will go ahead and get care at the ER as always - so much for the scare stories.

As Obamacare is unravelling let the thing collapse and then pull all the insurance companies together and say OK guys, what do you want to do? They used to provide insurance at an affordable price with reasonable co-pays and deductibles, let them put it back to that point again.

More important is the purposely named so called “Cadillac” tax. It is sickening back door way to tax employer provided insurance. They didn’t index it so eventually everyone will get taxed on their insurance. The GOP is already hedging on doing away with it.

Now actually kill the individual mandate.
Also kill the employer mandate to provide. IF it is kept, at least raise the threshold higher than 50.
Relax Obamacare minimum vale.
Move the 26 year old rule back to 19 then require full time college to 23.

Why if you expect young, healthy individuals to pay premiums to offset costs of the care that seniors need, would you give these same young, healthy individuals the right to remain on their parents’ insurance until the age of 26?

Anyone? Bueler? Bueler?

The law was invalid since its its inception since the government does not have the right to force a purchase. The decision of the Supreme Court was invalid and non binding.

NO not until they force colleges to be politically neutral. The same as they enforce title 9.

sorry...I meant like it used to be... that in order to stay on your parents policy past age 19, you have to be a verified full time college student. Then it ends at 23 regardless.

Actually, the IRS is STILL charging penalties for not having health care coverage. Maybe whoever wrote the article needs to contact the IRS...
