LOS ANGELES - A tennis commentator dropped by ESPN for a remark about Venus Williams during the Australian Open has sued the sports network for wrongful termination.

Former tennis pro Doug Adler maintains he was describing Williams’ aggressive style last month as “guerrilla” tactics and not comparing her with a “gorilla.”

He apologized for his poor word choice but was let go from ESPN mid-tournament.

Anything a White says or does, or doesn’t say or doesn’t do, can be considered racist and he has no recourse.

When I was a little kid I remember listening one day to the news on the radio in my Dad’s car as we were driving somewhere. They were talking about U.S. soldiers engaging in gunfire with “gorillas” in the Dominican Republic. I honestly thought they were talking about simian primates with guns.

You're getting your stories mixed up.

No need to caught up in all the niggling details.

There was a clown sports reporter on Don Imus’ radio show some years ago who got into a bit of trouble over the Williams sisters. Sports Illustrated was supposedly looking to sign them for a “sports babe swimsuit issue” of some kind. This guy said they belonged in National Geographic instead. LMAO.

Seriously, I have never heard the phrase "gorilla tactics", except maybe in the "George of the Jungle" movie. Anyone who thought that was what was said is an idiot.

Do gorillas even use tactics? I'd think they're pretty straightforward. Probably why they made good soldiers in the Planet of the Apes movies.

Gorilla tactics would entail charging someone and beating them into a pulp with one’s immense strength and giant fists.

Guerrila tactics would be exactly the opposite.

Ha!
I was about to mention that I heard a story some years back about someone being fired for using the word “niggardly.”
Just freaking unbelievable to lose one’s job due to OTHER PEOPLE’s ignorance of the meanings of words and phrases.
