It took nearly a month, but President Donald Trump is finally operating with at least half of his Cabinet in place. Not since George Washington in 1789 has a newly elected president waited so long.

Why? Unprecedented delays and obstructionism on the part of Democrats have resulted in the most contentious confirmation process in U.S. history, according to a Washington Post analysis. No other presidents nominees have collectively faced similar opposition.
And thats just the 15 members of Trumps Cabinet. Other top nominees, such as Rep. Mick Mulvaney to lead the Office of Management and Budget and Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency, continue to wait as well. And then theres Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, who could face the biggest battle of anyone.

The confirmation delays have left many agencies without a leader, a situation Democrats know is impeding Trumps ability to implement his policies.

And while the Senate slowly confirms his Cabinet, the time it spends to do so prevents lawmakers from addressing the presidents legislative priorities. Last week, for instance, senators had to wait 30 hours between votes because of Democrat delaying tactics.

... we are fighting a delaying action against Chief Yellow Hair!
100% of the delay is the fault of Senate republicans and in particular McConnell. 100%.
The time has come to roll over these obstructionists and “get er done”.
They are NOT our friends, and they are cerrtainly NOT friends of America.
yes! it’s their fault and if something big happens what will they say?
In the end maybe the government doesn’t need all these agencies/departments or “Secretaries”
You're talking about McConnell, McCain, and Graham ...
Right?
Ryan and McConnel are to blame.
Stop the BS already and letting democrats run things.
1. identify the obstructionists
2. find their incriminating dirt
3. start investigations
4. charge and jail if warranted
they won’t play ball... so take them off the field
I find it hard to believe that Republicans with a majority CANNOT unblock the road blocks. They are in cahoots and doing it deliberately. Drain the swamp indeed.
That article is BS.
The Republicans have done nothing to hasten the process.
I don’t blame Schumer or Fauxcahontas, they are doing what they “should” be doing based on their roles and their traitorous base. But they are a minority and they can be pushed aside. They haven’t been and for this I blame McConnell. He is letting this play out the way the democrats want it to. He’s just not trustworthy.
I heard George Washington's Health and Human Services Secretary was confirmed just after the United States Constitution was signed. /s
George Washington's cabinet included just four original members: Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of Treasury Alexander Hamilton, Secretary of War Henry Knox, and Attorney General Edmund Randolph.
I actually don’t blame the Democrats on this one. They are doing what Democrats do.
I blame the Republicans who are reaching across the f-ing aisle. These liberal Republicans need to be called out on this.
Dems have established a new precedent for the future that completely politicizes the Senate’s Constitutional
“advise and consent” role. Either the Dems never expect to get back in power or they’re sacrificing long-term
consequences for themselves for pointless short-term obstructionism.
In a few months, when Trump gets a cabinet, we’re going to start seeing some aggressive tweets. Those mexicans are going to self-deport. You wait. And wait. I mean, I assume that’s what he’s going to do- he doesn’t actually keep us informed but you wait. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It took about 400 years.
“....You’re talking about McConnell, McCain, and Graham ...Right?...”
Basically, I was referring to the UniParty. Since those clowns are certainly UniParty members, yeah, them too.
