Chairman: House intel panel won’t investigate Flynn, will probe leaks

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) says he won’t open an investigation into President Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, citing executive privilege.

But the committee will investigate who leaked the story that led to Flynn’s resignation and why Trump's national security adviser was being recorded, CNN reported Tuesday.

Flynn resigned late Monday night amid cascading controversy over a discussion he had before Trump took office with a Russian diplomat about President Obama’s sanctions on the country.

The Washington Post first reported details of the conversation, which the New York Times said stemmed from a wire tap of the Russian diplomat.

ADVERTISEMENT Flynn initially denied the conversation took place, and Vice President Mike Pence vouched for him in a nationally televised interview.

But Flynn later said he could not recall whether he’d discussed the sanctions before Trump took office.

Flynn’s conflicting story and Democratic uproar over his remarks to a foreign diplomat, which were not made in any official capacity, ultimately led to his resignation.

Democrats are demanding an investigation into the matter, which ties into their suspicions about the Trump administration’s alleged close ties to Moscow.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

The real story here is why are there so many illegal leaks coming out of Washington? Will these leaks be happening as I deal on N.Korea etc?

It is interesting how the details of this presumably private discussion came out. Were others present? Was it a tapped phone? If so, who tapped it, and why? Was the tap legal? Was it routine for calls to be tapped, or was Flynn singled out?

Yep. As I said on another thread. Flynn is gone. Won’t be back.

Time to move on to the leaks

Trumps problem is that he left too many Obama cronies in place.

When you have people in the Oval Office, and a phone call information got out, which one ‘leaked’ it???

When you have people in the DOJ, like Comey, what has been ‘leaked’???

When you have people in the CIA, Bush, Clinton, Barky hold overs, what has been ‘leaked’???

When you have people in IRS, Bush, Clinton Barky hold overs, what has been ‘leaked’???

When you have to fight the RINO’s (McStain for one); the ‘fake news’ media; the House of Representatives; the Senate; the Chamber of Commerce (Tom Donahue) what has been ‘leaked’???

When you have someone in the Democrat Party (Chuckles Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Linda Graham, Juan McStain, and others) what has been ‘leaked’???

When you can answer all these questions, get back to me...

"The Washington Post first reported details of the conversation, which the New York Times said stemmed from a wire tap of the Russian diplomat."

Sounds like a CIA attack on a sitting president. If they thought there was a crime or breach of ethics, they should take it to the DOJ, not the press. This shows where their loyalties are.

Exactly, these were private conversations by a Gen. Flynn who at the time was a private citizen.

Private citizens should be able to have private conversations with ambassadors if any nation.

What we had was the NSA moles using ILLEGAL WARRANTLESS ( no FISA court REVIEW) wire TAPS on a civilian breaking absolutely no law ( the Logan act is bull crap) AND then releasing that illegal criminal wire tap to the media. This is punishable by firing squad. This is a huge story of treasonous proportions. They need immediate seizure of all records by Homeland Security and polygraph tests NOW!! Trump has mad a HORRIBLE MISTAKE leaving Comey anywhere near our FBI!! but this must we stopped . This is an open coup de’ Tat on out president and it must be quickly crushed.

Well, we will see what happens with General Flynn. Will he show up in Besty DeVos’ brother’s shop? Does Donald Trump still have a private intelligence operation in parallel with his private security operation?

The last time the Globalist’s were this happy was the day before Hillary won the 2016 Presidential Election. ;-)

"Private citizens should be able to have private conversations with ambassadors if any nation."

You can bet that reporters have such conversations, maybe even with drinks and dinner. And you can bet that official embassy business is discussed.

Flynn was not fired for having a chat with the ambassador.

He was fired for lying to Mike Pence about it.

Exactly, no crime, he just crossed a line he cannot cross.
