DNC leaders say Clinton lost because she talked too much about Trump
Breaking 911 ^ | February 13, 2017 | 6:00 PM | James Hohmann

“We forgot to talk to people,” said Tom Perez, who was secretary of labor until last month and a finalist to be Clinton’s running-mate last summer. “I’m a big believer in data analytics, but data analytics cannot supplant good old fashioned door knocking. . . . We didn’t communicate our values to people. When Donald Trump says, ‘I’m going to bring the coal jobs back,’ we know that’s a lie. But people understand that he feels their pain. And our response was: ‘Vote for us because he’s crazy.’ I’ll stipulate to that, but that’s not a message.”

Many Democratic leaders remain in a state of denial about the lessons of the election. They have only been in the wilderness for a few weeks now, and Clinton won the popular vote. The mass protests of the past four weekends and Trump’s sagging popularity have added to their overconfidence that they’ll easily win again in 2020.

It was striking during a two-hour forum in Baltimore that not one of the 10 candidates for chair suggested the party should moderate in response to last year’s losses. Indeed, there was no substantive discussion about policy at all during the Saturday evening event. It was taken as a given that all the aspirants are committed liberals. This is a stark contrast to the ideological debates that enveloped the party following similar setbacks in 2004, 1988 or 1972. It reflects the degree to which the Bernie Sanders wing is ascendant, and Blue Dogs have left the party.

With the exceptions of JFK (murdered), Carter (dweebish) and Bush I (spazmoidal), since 1960 it has been two terms for a party and out.
IOW they have been taking turns. The only way Hildabeast could have won was by being someone else. Goodbye Clintons & Bushes. And good riddance.

Clinton lost because she attempted to “phone it in” on her way to the coronation.

She is a criminal and the people recognized her as such even if a complicit government did not.

Hitlary told Bill that she lost because of Comey.

Bill told her that she lost because of Mook, Podesta and herself.

It was then that her $#!+ hit the fan.

“When Donald Trump says, ‘I’m going to bring the coal jobs back,’ we know that’s a lie.”

The people who were supporting the worst liar in our history have a lot of nerve saying this about Trump.

They can’t admit it is because their policies were rejected.

They can’t admit it is because they are lying crooked hypocrites.

Hillary didn’t have a message because she really didn’t give a damn. She wanted the power and the money, case closed. So it was all racist all the time, and then attacked the people who could have voted for her. Arrogant a-hole. Spits on her customers.

There is more than a little truth to this thesis, but it does not alone suffice as an adequate explanation for Clinton's loss. In attacking Trump, Clinton drew attention to and tacitly validated him as representing a sharp break from not just the Obama years but from conventional politics as well. In 2016, that is what a decisively large slice of the public wanted.

Worse, in a classic example of strategic blindness, Clinton and her team ignored the large degree of public unease about Obama's politics and his weak economy and promised more of the same -- with larger helpings for Democratic constituencies. Idiotically, Clinton even described a large swath of Americans as deplorables -- a comment that had menacing tones and helped reconcile the GOP to Trump.

Astonishingly, based on a supposedly ironclad political model and a mass of data, the Clinton campaign assumed that an electoral college victory was in the bag. She therefore campaigned at a leisurely pace, ignored potential swing states in the Midwest, and misallocated her campaign effort in order to assure herself a popular vote victory.

Most of all, Clinton underestimated Trump. Unlike Clinton, he ran an aggressive, high energy, sharp-witted campaign that focused its effort on key issues and on swing voters and swing states so as to attain an electoral college majority. In difficult moments in the Superbowl contest of American politics, Trump clung to the adage of Superbowls: any team that gets there is good enough to win if they want it more, play better and harder than their opposition, and get some breaks along the way.

Can the Democrats regain their winning ways? It will be hard because they have so much wrong to unlearn about how American politics actually works. With the Democrats out of power and having a defeated and diminished political base, they must now suffer the Left consolidating its hold. In effect, the Left will insist that the Democrats must aim to win by energizing the Left and stoking its toxic identity politics and grievances instead of appealing to the middle of the country with sound policies that advance common interests.

In 2020, the Democrats are thus likely to face a successful Donald Trump touting economic success and tangible improvements in the nation's security and standing in the world. And the Democratic candidate -- Clinton again, perhaps -- will be commanded by their perpetually energized and angry base to make Trump the issue again. If that comes to pass, Donald Trump may well achieve a reelection victory of Reaganesque proportions.

Clinton lost because of obama’s 8 miserable years and clinton a criminal who had no right to be considered the democratic nominee. I was SICK of the clintons, obamas, the dems, the worthless republicans, the DEEP corruption in Washington.. the libs, the media, the special interest, the lies, the deception, the promises not kept, and the ignoring of us voters out here!

It had little to do with what hillary did while campaigning... she was fired before she entered the race. Enough of the clintons.. enough of all that had gone on in Washington. After obama, there was a half chance in hell that a democrat could have been elected! and hillary was the LAST choice among the ‘half chance’.

Huh ? Using the coal analogy sux.
This is what got her heinous in trouble:
“We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”
