Trump, Bannon Said To Weigh Firing Mike Flynn Over Russian Phone Calls Scandal
Zero Hedge ^ | 02/13/17 | Tyler Durden

Top White House aide and policy adviser, Stephen Miller, sidestepped repeated chances during Sunday news shows to publicly defend embattled National Security Adviser Michael Flynn following reports that he engaged in conversations with Russian diplomat(s) about U.S. sanctions before Trump’s inauguration. The uncertainty came as Trump was dealing with North Korea’s apparent first missile launch of the year and his presidency, along with visits this week from the leaders of Israel and Canada.

Pressed repeatedly, Stephen Miller said it wasn’t up to him to say whether the president retains confidence in Flynn. “It’s not for me to tell you what’s in the president’s mind,” he said on NBC. “That’s a question for the president.”

While Trump has yet to comment on the allegations against Flynn, the White House said in an anonymous statement Friday the president had full confidence in Flynn. But officials have been mum since then amid fallout from reports that Flynn addressed U.S. sanctions against Russia in a phone call late last year. The report, which first appeared in The Washington Post, contradicted both Flynn’s previous denials, as well as those made by Vice President Mike Pence in a televised interview.

Now we know why the administration has been so quiet about the fate of Flynn. As the WSJ reports, the White House is reviewing "whether to retain Flynn amid a furor over his contacts with Russian officials before President Donald Trump took office, an administration official said Sunday." Flynn has apologized to White House colleagues over the episode, which has created a rift with Vice President Mike Pence and diverted attention from the administration’s message to his own dealings, the official said.

“He’s apologized to everyone,” the official said of Mr. Flynn.

How is a phone call a scandal?

And did Hillary or anyone in her campaign call Russia too? Oh yeah to sell Russia Uranium. How is that NOT a scandal?

Why

President Trumo should not let the FAKE NEWS NETWORKS DICTATE who he can have in his cabinet.

The Main Stream News IS irrelevant, and the people are behind President Trump.

The report, which first appeared in The Washington Post,.

Which had their own FISA warrant to secretly tap and record Flynn's calls.

What he did was not illegal, but if he lied about it to VP Pence, he should be replaced. You have to be able to trust the word of the person in that position.

Flynn should simply have said, I’m the president’s advisor. What I say behind closed doors to him or on his behalf stays behind closed doors. Next question.

As for Trump, I’d be disappointed if he didn’t stand behind Flynn. If Flynn has done something to lose the president’s confidence, wait until this blows over and then “promote him out”. Don’t ever admit that the Fishwrap won this one.

As I understand it, that is the issue. Flynn was not honest about the call.

Fake News until the “official” has a name. The media always Names a official if they really have one.

...How is a phone call a scandal...
Unfortunately, there is a vague law against individuals “conducting” foreign policy. Trump had not yet been sworn in when this call took place, thus Flynn was a private individual when he conducted “business” in a phone call with the Russian Ambassador.

Sounds like he misrepresented the call to Pence and now the Pence/Priebus/Ryan wing of the admin is using that to try to oust him. But I am of course just surmising that.

Without knowing I have a hard time imagining that a prospective member of a future administration is breaking a law by mentioning sanctions in a conversation with the representative of another country—but I’d welcome detail to the contrary.

The way I see this:

This is a ‘fake news’ account of a phone call that was interpreted they way the ‘fake news’ media wants it to be...

When President Trump was President Elect, there was a background check on Flynn's son, and Flynn's son was fired over it...now if they were checking the Flynn's then, they know about this supposed phone call...

And what about Hillary Clinton giving away our Uranium to Russia was far more a crime than this ‘fake news’ story on Flynn...

And what about what Barky did for 8 years...he knew Clinton had a ‘hidden server’ (more than one) and there were wiki leaks proving that he himself emailed her on those servers...where was the outrage over that...oh yeah I forgot...RATS are above the laws!!!

I hope to hell that Trump is smart enough to see this for what it is - a smear job on Mike Flynn by his enemies within the Intelligence Community.

Keep in mind that a substantial proportion of CIA employees, especially those outside the National Clandestine Service (NCS), are Ivy League graduates - particularly from Harvard. The Agency has been recruiting heavily from the Ivy League for a long time and if you’ve dealt with any of their “analysts” in recent years, you’d know they’re very liberal and dumb as a stump, with no real experience in much of anything - kind of like the NSC staff.

One other point to keep in mind: There is a direct and inextricable relationship between the CIA and the State Department and the degrees of separation between the two is vanishingly small. Mike Flynn, whom I happen to know, poses a real threat to the status quo in the IC. He’s one of a very small number of senior Military leaders who refused to play politics and knows the Intelligence Community, its capabilities and limitations, and all its warts from a strategic and tactical perspective.

See: https://www.cnas.org/publications/reports/fixing-intel-a-blueprint-for-making-intelligence-relevant-in-afghanistan

Mike wrote this report and published it via CNAS in direct violation of DoD policy. Conclude from that what you like, but he’s a guy who is committed to doing the right things for the right reasons.

If he lied directly and knowingly to Pence AND/OR the transcript of the call indicates unauthorized actions, he should be asked to resign.

The fact that the call was transcribed - is this normal? It may indicate Obama may started an investigation into these matters after or around the election, one which is possibly ongoing?

One report said he “lied”, another said he “misled”. Which was it? Keep in mind that Pence is a politican and Flynn is not. Flynn didn’t do well at DIA because he didn’t play “the political game”. Mike knows he has enemies within the IC - primarily because of things he said about Obama’s policies and direct criticism of the Intelligence Community and he doesn’t know who he can trust. You can bet that no one - including Pence - is willing to take a round (figuratively) for him, but he would and will do so for them.
