If the dam really fails then all those state officials are going to need good lawyers.

Should I ask why people live in these areas that could flood?

Here comes an opportunity for negotiation. Trump says... “You want some federal disaster funds? I want you to end sanctuary cities. Let’s make a deal.”

Two words: Sovereign immunity.

The morons running California spend billions on illegals and welfare for criminals and can’t even build a spillway that works.

Incompetent morons running CA. May they be sued to oblivion.

Somehow, Trump is going to get blamed.

I have been watching this story since Wednesday on another forum. It has been continually getting worse and people have been wondering why the California gubmint has been downplaying the potential impact of the problem. A very wise gentleman gave the following explanation.

California hates President Trump. President Trump has been saying the country's infrastructure is falling apart. If California says this dam is a potential disaster, then President Trump is right. And California cannot have anything that President Trump say be correct. So they have been basically ignoring the public by not issuing any warnings until now when it is too late.

Can you just hear the little piggies whine: “How dare Trump hold our people hostage! Forcing us to obey his fascist laws!”

They would sign the deal, and after receiving Federal funds, promptly renege on it.

They're going to need something stronger than lawyers to survive this, if the dam goes.

A supermax prison may be the only safe place for them to hide.

Worst case is the emergency spillway fails which could breach to 30 feet below current water level. Very bad, but will not affect main dam, which is 770 feet high (think Biblical).

Bigger problem is more rain expected late next week. A warm storm could greatly increase inflow to resevoir.

They won’t have time to fix it.

Seeing as you are in Seattle(?), recall the Oso Landslide that we had in Western Washington a few years ago (you mentioned Rio Oso River). Mother nature doesn’t give a crap about us humans - whether the killed number in the 20’s, 200’s or 2,000’s. Prayers for those caught up in this real-life nightmare disaster that could be pulled straight from the movies.

Help the emergency folks coordinate traffic flows, give them extra time, help people make rational decisions. Calm those separated from their loved ones.
