Good Riddance! Family’s brutally honest obituary for Galveston man

GALVESTON, Texas — Obituaries reflect the deceased person's life and their impact on others.

The family of one Galveston man decided to be brutally honest when writing his obituary. Let's be real, the truth hurts, even when you're six feet under.

Leslie Ray Charping passed away last month at the age of 74 from cancer. His family writes, in part:

"He leaves behind 2 relieved children; a son Leslie Roy Charping and daughter, Shiela Smith along with six grandchildren and countless other victims including an ex wife, relatives, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses and random strangers."

"With Leslie's passing he will be missed only for what he never did; being a loving husband, father and good friend. No services will be held, there will be no prayers for eternal peace and no apologizes to the family he tortured. Leslie's remains will be cremated and kept in the barn until "Ray", the family donkey's wood shavings run out. Leslie's passing proves that evil does in fact die and hopefully marks a time of healing and safety for all."

“speaking honestly and openly about how a parental figure was a piece of crap actually FREES you from being a victim.”

That’s gay. You can’t be “free” unless you running around gossiping and whining “honestly” about how bad someone else is. This new age stuff is ridiculous.

If your obituary describes someone’s mental illness, it’s low down to discuss their behaviors.

True enough, but the not-so-evil might get their faults praised for the sake of some few paltry virtues. Better to go negative than risk that. Non saving graces should be non-relevant.

Gay or not, freaky. Nothing is “liberating” unless you’re getting over one of your own faults.

That’s right! Baptism is never mentioned in the New Testament! Neither is the Eucharist. Or anointing the sick. Or priesthood. If only people would read Scripture!

Well said. It’s hard to understand all the people on this thread saying how awful it is to write an obituary like this. They have very obviously never had to endure a lifetime lived with a person such as this.

They are lucky.

Whatever it takes to cleanse themselves of this burden is fine by me.

I applaud their honesty. It’s refreshing.

My Brother (youngest) and I were in bootcamp together.

We laughed at the whiners, the old man was tougher than the company commanders.

Does that make the old man a dick?
NOT AT ALL

He was a loving man to all round

Love and move on people

And yet she skipped over the assaults, the pouring boiling water on his wife, and all those other details that have been in other articles about this dead violent thug.

She showed restraint, but did acknowledge enough to make it clear that the family understands the damage this creep did to the people she was apologising to in the obituary.

She showed restraint, given what this man did to other people.

Why do women always harp on Standing Up For Themselves

“I feel therefore I must be heard”

Validate me

Aaaargh...

“Baptism is never mentioned in the New Testament! “

That’s just crazy talk. Baptism is mentioned dozens and dozens of times in the NT.

If you aren’t baptised, you’re completely skarewed.

It’s a rhetorical remark pertaining to direct quotes from the last in the thread

But it is a common meme for girls since feminism first moaned around 1970
