We philosophically differ. You are technically right about United States versus a sovereign federal nation but the states ceded authority for certain functions in the Constitution to a Federal Government. I believe that a national policy of drug control at least in some manner is for the overall benefit of all states. There are more than one instance of “health and general welfare.”
But in the end, you and I differ I guess. I’ll vote one way and you can vote another.
You put health and general welfare in quotes. Nothing in the constitution says anything about promoting health. And the states never ceded to the fedgov the ability to dictate such minutiae to the daily lives of people in the states.
It was seized by FDR in a gross misuse of the interstate commerce clause.
I am always amazed at the willingness of so called conservatives to submit to a deeply invasive, all knowing, all powerful, coercive fedgov as long as we get to be in charge.
