McCain regains his maverick reputation by bucking Trump

The maverick is back.

Sen. John McCain once again is basking in the media spotlight as the go-to Republican on Capitol Hill for voicing opposition to the Republican in the White House. This time, he’s bucking President Trump and doing it with newfound vim.

In Mr. Trump’s first two weeks in office, Mr. McCain broke with him over the decision to scrap the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, said his proposed import tax on U.S. businesses relocated to Mexico was “insane” and took the lead in raising alarm about the reorganization of the National Security Council.

He also found a reason to blast Rep. Mick Mulvaney, Mr. Trump’s nominee for the key post running the Office of Management and Budget. He said the longtime deficit hawk had spent his career pushing cuts to defense spending.

Mac is likely exposing classified data just to get even with Trump on his “Military Failure” remarks.

Ooooohhhh.... now that he's back to bucking the Repubs and not the Dems, he's the media's darling again?

Strange how that works, huh?

So being a “maverick” means parroting the establishment elite’s official line on every issue, just louder and more stridently than others do?

So he was a beloved maverick when he attacked Bush, then he became the scary, evil, unstable Dr. Strangelove, who would lead us into World War III, when he ran against Obama and continued to be so when he criticized Obama. Now that he’s two weeks into the Trump Administration and criticizing Trump, he’s the beloved maverick again. Ironically, some of his statements now are closer to leading us into World War III than what he was saying under Bush or Obama. But it doesn’t matter to the press as long as he’s criticizing Trump.

I wouldn't call it a maverick reputation.

More like a jackass reputation.

McCain is all bucked up!

Trump will kick his sorry ass to the curb but quick.

He’s already started.

We’re about to find out the maverick is a Shetland pony.

I heard a couple of people talking a couple of years ago about how lucky we were McCain hadn’t beaten Obama. I had to ask them to name one issue McCain opposed Obama on. They couldn’t. All through Obama’s presidency, McCain said and did nothing of significance with regard to Obama’s positions. Now that his party is in the White House he decides now is the time to act? McCain did not win because there is no discernible difference between him and Obama or any other Democrat. He would all do us a favor if he simply declared himself a Democrat.
