State AG Schneiderman Has Trump in His Legal Crosshairs

By Courtney Gross Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 07:38 PM EST With the new president in his legal crosshairs, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is also busy raising his national profile. NY1's Courtney Gross looks at how Schneiderman is rapidly becoming Donald Trump's biggest New York nemesis.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has added a new responsibility to his job description: taking on the president.

"It is up to us at the state level to show leadership," Schneiderman said.

Since Donald Trump took the oath of office, the state attorney general has been corralling Democratic attorneys general across the country to fight the president's most controversial policies or strike at his rhetoric.

His latest endeavor is voting.

"There is this picture being portrayed out there that it is easy to commit voter fraud and there are lots of people doing it. That is a false narrative, and we have to push back against that," Schneiderman said.

With fanfare, he introduced the New York Votes Act on Wednesday, a bill that includes automatic registration for eligible voters, same-day registration at the polls and early voting.

We are told its part of his new tactic in a new federal administration. One - push "progressive policies" as models for other states. Two - step up enforcement of laws on the books. Three - sue.

"This is not just an assault on our laws about immigration. This is fundamentally a challenge to the rule of law," Schneiderman said.

Schneiderman has already joined a lawsuit in Brooklyn federal court to stop the president's so-called travel ban.

He, along with other attorneys general, filed a brief in Washington in a similar case.

And on Wednesday, he filed another one supporting a lawsuit against Trump in Virginia.

"Every president must live within the guidelines set down by the founding fathers," Schneiderman said.

Back at home, Schneiderman's voting proposals could have a tough time in the state Senate. Senate Republicans have blocked these types of proposals before.

Nonetheless, officials say they are hopeful.

"People are now aware and awake in ways that they have never been before, because they realize every day that elections mean something," said Andrea Stewart-Cousins, leader of the state Senate's Democratic conference.

Once we get rid of all these illegal aliens, voter fraud will be a minimal issue.

“How about voter Id!”

My sister lives in upstate NY (Rochester area). She tried to show her drivers license while voting and was yelled at by every single old biddy working the polling station. She was flat out told she was prohibited from showing her license while trying to vote.

As I recall, the guy behind Project Veritas was able to walk into the voting precinct where Eric Holder was registered and would have been allowed to vote as the Attorney General criminal, Eric Holder, had he not been honest, and not want to commit voter fraud himself.

The ‘law’ business is of the left’s making... Obama is the perfect example of what Harvard law school produces.. AND more often than NOT the so called republicans have the same mindset... They are ‘gods’ of the law, and they can some day become a judge and become a god.

Lawyers are trained to take all sides of any ‘issue’ and present a case for any ‘issue’. They work for setting precedence, not for protecting and defending our Constitution.

Schneiderman, a far leftwing libtard, thinks he's being soooo sneaky by announcing his "voter registration" reforms. It was patently obvious that his "reforms" were exclusively designed to make it much easier for illegal aliens to register and vote, like good little dummocraps. So much for his being the AG of NY. We have this libtard agenda-driven animal as the so-called gatekeeper of the law in NY.

We have far leftwing libtard Cuomo leading NY to disaster with his insistence on commie core and other stupid suicidal moves.

We have far leftwing dummocrap NY senators who just passed a resolution to make the entire state of NY a sanctuary state---so we taxpayers can treat every piece of illegal alien scum to free housing, free food, free medical care, and stolen education, and invite crimes to be committed on our legitimate residents.

We have the far leftwing libtard senators Chuckee Cheese Schumer and Kirstin Kill-a-Brant, twin idiots.

And finally, we have the prize imbecile commie mayor DeBlASSio and his "Let's Represent Anybody But the Constituents Who Elected Us" city council, who continuously want to funnel taxpayer money not into fixing terribly broken roads, bridges, schools, etc. but to give our taxpayer money to illegals, other countries, etc.

Thjose poll workers were dean wrong, and should be reported.

I live in a small valley, and the total voting age population is probably no more than 3000. I showed my ID to the poll workers on Nov 8, and 3 of the 4 sitting there knew me. One has ridden horseback with me a number of times. But I showed my ID. I certainly wasn’t told that it was illegal to do so.

Trump should bankrupt New York by visiting there every couple of days. Overtime, blocked roads, closed bridges. A presidential visit does that. Always do it during rush hour.

Federal borders which supposedly protect the entire country have suddenly become a states rights issue.
Interesting, the way the Dems want massive top-down government on most issues, but on this one, they want Balkanized communities undermining the cohesion of the entire nation.
