Oprah sells painting for $196 million [Greedy 1%er]

....., according to Bloomberg, she sold a painting by Gustav Klimt for $196 million to an unnamed Chinese buyer....

....Oprah purchased the painting at a Christie’s auction in 2006 for $115 million....

The value of the painting is determined by the market, not by Oprah. Klimt is a wonderful artist. This is the painting she sold:

And here are two other of his famous paintings, Judith I (first) and The Kiss (second):

It's impossible to show how magnificent these last two Art Nouveau paintings are on computer, since they are done with actual gold leaf. To see them glowing with real gold in a museum is an amazing experience.

Thank you. It is lovely, and more traditionally “painterly”, while Klimt was more of a designer or illustrator, in my view. I like both types of work.
