White House fires back at immigration order critics with list of terror arrests
Fox News ^ | 8 Feb 2017

The White House moved Wednesday to counter critics who claim President Trump’s travel ban goes too far, circulating a list of terror cases involving suspects who came to the U.S. from the seven countries in question.

The list, obtained by Fox News, gave 24 examples of refugees and other immigrants from Somalia, Sudan, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Syria and Libya who have been arrested on terror-related charges; most have been convicted.

Those seven, mostly Muslim countries were singled out in Trump's executive order, which suspended immigration for 90 days from those nations.

The document of terror arrests appears to be, in part, a rebuke to Seattle U.S. District Judge James Robart who, in questioning a Justice Department lawyer last week about the number of post-9/11 arrests of foreign nationals from those countries, incorrectly asserted: “Let me tell you … The answer to that is none, as best I can tell.”

Robart halted the rollout of the executive order. The case is now before the San Francisco-based 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, where Justice Department lawyers are arguing for the restoration of the measure.

The White House document itself names 10 individuals from Somalia, six from Iraq, one from Yemen, two from Sudan, two from Iran, two from Libya and one from Syria. The cases span the last eight years, and include most recently a case in June in which two Somali refugees were jailed for conspiring to commit murder in Syria on behalf of ISIS.

It also includes a case from March of last year, where a Yemeni native who became a U.S. citizen was sentenced to 22 years in prison for attempting to provide “material support” to ISIS and planning to shoot and kill members of the U.S. military who had returned from Iraq.

And Trump’s lawyers couldn’t think of one either.

I am looking forward to the next Skype news conference and the prospect of an out-of-DC journalist inquiring about these examples.

I seriously doubt the Control-LEFT media has any plans for doing background research.

” lawyers couldn’t think”

The lawyers most likely were not expecting that line since they were going to court, not some sort of press conference or protest.

It was the judge that asked that question and it is actually immaterial to the case.

The prez has authority to block those visas whether or not any actually committed a terrorist act in the U.S.

Liz Clayman implied the list was on its way to the 3-judge panel of the 9th Circuit. Hope they send one to Robarts, too. The way these libs lie — it’s a disgrace.

http://www.sessions.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2016/6/at-least-580-individuals-convicted-in-terror-cases-since-9-11-at-least-380-are-foreign-born

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/article/2614043

Last summer, the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest analyzed public sources of information, seeking to learn more about people convicted of terror-related offenses. The Justice Department provided the subcommittee with a list of 580 people who were convicted — not just arrested, but tried and convicted — of terror-related offenses between Sept. 11, 2001 and Dec. 31, 2014.

The subcommittee investigated further and found that at least 380 of the 580 were foreign-born and that an additional 129 were of unknown origin. Of the 380, there were representatives — at least 60 — from all of the countries on the Trump executive order list. And with 129 unknowns, there might be more, as well.

In addition, since the Senate list was compiled, there have been others involved in terrorism in the United States from the seven countries. One highly-publicized example was the case of Abdul Artan, a Somali refugee who last November wounded 11 people with a machete during an attack on the campus of Ohio State University. In fairness to Judge Robart, Artan was shot and killed by police — not arrested — so perhaps the judge didn’t count him.

Better late than never but they should have had that info to immediately refute the judge. That would have been great. As it is they should demand the judge acknowledge his error.

Robarts came up with that line of question first, last week. Then it came up a second time yesterday, and they were still caught flat-footed. To not expect it at that point is pretty bad. Good to see someone finally turned in their homework today, but I hope it’s not too late.

*uck Artan, he was as ignorant of the "GOTCHA" question's answer as everyone else, but the purpose of the ambush is crystal clear.

Is the honorable judge either muslim, homosexual or both?

NO reason why they should have to. It's not the job of some so called judge to question the motives of a president's EO

Where was this dimwit the past 8 yrs?
