Training people to use street fighting as an intentional political tactic is definitely a Nazi SA thing. Really not part of the American tradition. Unless you go back to the “Gangs of New York” era when the Democrats did this just before the First US Civil War.

Don’t those ACOGs in the picture have night vision capability? That would certainly be a plus. Otherwise, I think optics on a medium range rifle can limit an accurate shooter. Not as quick to acquire and hold a moving target as it is with iron sights.
I’m sure the ones the military buys will work with NOGS, yes.
And they work fine with both eyes open, that’s a technique that is trained for. So I’m not sure your thesis is correct.
Evey with both eyes open I can track a moving target much easier with iron sights. (out to about 200 yards) Any farther than that I go with at least a 30 caliber rifle and a scope.
