WASHINGTON — The Latest on the lawsuit involving President Donald Trump’s executive order restraining immigration (all times local): 4:35 p.m. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer says the Trump administration is not rethinking its strategy over the president’s ban on refugees and travelers from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States.

He says the administration remains confident it will prevail in the lawsuit.

Spicer tells reporters traveling aboard Air Force One the president has “huge discretion” to protect the safety of Americans. He says “clearly the law is on the president’s side, the Constitution’s on the president’s side.”

But, precedent or not, the 9th Circuit Court judges will be looking at the likely reaction by their fellow lawyers to a clearly illegal usurpation of Presidential authority by the plaintiffs. Fear of being laughed at is a powerful force.

The Ninth Circuit has been the butt of legal jokes for decades! Why should they suddenly care?

Within hours. There are a lot of people I respect holding your opinion; 8 years of lawlessness causes me to reflexively dismiss the 9th doing the right thing out-of-hand.

It’s just hard imagining something breaking our way when the Left brandishes the upper hand.

Case in point: Wisconsin. They fought Governor Walker in exactly the same way; result: WI went from purple to red.

I think they’re gonna fold. This is a Brock v. Obama fight for the DNC, and Brock’s gonna end up floating in the Potomac by Wednesday.

A FReeper wrote a great post just the other day about how the RATS would re-use their Wisconsin strategy, as it’s all they know to do, since nobody actually buys what they’re selling. Wonder if I can find it.

they don’t care. this EO isn’t something they should be seen as fighting because it’s popular with majority of Americans.

It’s common sense.

Ruling in favor of the District Court decision and the possibility of 4-4 Supreme Court would result in the 9th Circuit and the District Court decision becoming the "Law of the Land". A terrible precedent.

I'm afraid their ruling would be null and void on its face, if they ruled in favor of judge Robarts, due to standing legal precedents, existing federal law, and the Constitution - all of which validate and secure the President's absolute authority in this matter.

Ruling in favor of this lawless judge would be begging Congress to break up the 9th Circuit into smaller districts, or to even begin impeachment proceedings against those judges who joined this lawlessness.

If the President intended to bar all Muslims from entering the U.S., he would have (and easily could have) restricted travel from all 57 Islamic countries.

He didn’t do that, though, did he?

egging Congress to break up the 9th Circuit into smaller districts,

Aye, there’s the rub. I’ve been wondering what brier patch the admin has been begging the Left not to throw them into.

Is it also true that the head of the DOJ currently is an Obama holdover?

He is, but he's not an Obama sycophant, which is why he was chosen to be the acting AG.

You should read the brief he and his team put together to answer this restraining order in the 9th Circuit court. It's brilliant.

Trump’s original stance had nothing to do with specific countries whether they be 7 or 57. His original statement was

“a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on,” a campaign press release said.”

McConnell, Ryan?

Those two are skating on thin ice, and know that they could easily provoke an even bigger backlash from the people, if they appear to be slow walking, stonewalling, or in any way, undermining the will of the people, or this President.

Tread carefully, guys.

No. He backtracked and realized his mistake and issued a ban against seven countries. Did you even both reading my posts. Good grief.

Both orders from WA and LA ‘9th Circus’ are temporary, meaning until next appeals hearing. My feelings are that Trump Order will stand, eventually. The temporary restraining order is buying time, and to appease the screams of the Left! All stranded refugees getting home.

The Boston Judge was clear in his opinion, that there was NO Discrimination in the Order against Muslims! Wait and see game. Lots of Judges want their 15 min of Fame! Peacocks showing how smart they are about law, HA!

That is why Trump is confident it will all be found legal and binding...in how many more appeals?? A lot of BS from Left. Remember O Drama and his ‘smoke and mirrors act’!
