A Texas man whose life sentence on drug charges was commuted by former President Obama is back behind bars after cops caught him with more than two pounds of cocaine following a high-speed chase, according to a report.

Robert M. Gill, 68, had been imprisoned in 1990 for for cocaine and heroin distribution before Obama set him free along with other non-violent federal inmates in 2015, the San Antonio Express News reported.

During his eight years in office, Obama commuted 1,715 prison sentences, more than any other president.

Last Thursday, according to federal court papers, Gill met with his probation officers and then went to the parking lot of a food market to buy more than 2 pounds of cocaine.

Yep, drug dealers need violence to protect their property interests, part of doing commerce outside of the law.

According to Yahoo a pound of coke is worth $27,000 in the US before it's cut up for resale, $150K after resale. This guy was buying two pounds of the stuff... $54K.

Food market had a BOGO sale?

To this man’s pardon supporters, try singing “We won’t get fooled again”, 100 times.

I’ve never heard of murder victims who had a choice as to whether or not they were going to be killed.

Robert Martinez-Gill, also known as Robert M. Gill.

Another case of the media trying to “whitewash” crime.

Right, when addicts get roughed up by enforcers because they can’t afford their fix it’s their own fault. Same as defaulting on credit card debt.

There are more than 2,200 alcohol poisoning deaths in the U.S. each year – an average of 6 alcohol poisoning deaths every day.

https://www.cdc.gov/media/dpk/alcohol/alcohol-poisoning/dpk-vs-alcohol-poisoning.html

Opioids—prescription and illicit—are the main driver of drug overdose deaths. Opioids were involved in 33,091 deaths in 2015, and opioid overdoses have quadrupled since 1999.

15 times as many deaths from opioids (legal and illegal) but bring up that demon alcohol...

Well then, isn’t this what is expected to happen, because of the War on Drugs?

End the War on Drugs, and then the tools of normal commerce, such as credit cards can be used.

The reason for the War on Drugs, really isn’t concern for the junkie, it is to maintain the payroll for those who promote it.

Personally I have no care or desire to use drugs for recreational purposes from beer to blotter acid. What I do resent is having to get permission from a government agent to get so called prescription medicine. I don’t mind getting a recommendation from a doctor, I just don’t need permission. This drives up the cost of health care.
