WHEN first hearing the story of an 11-year-old Australian boy executed by the Japanese as a spy in World War II, one cant help but think two things: this is shocking, and how have I not heard of it before? When he stumbled onto details of the firing squad death of Dickie Manson and his mother Marjorie in May 1942, Brisbane author Ian Townsend, 56, thought exactly that...
...
The chilling facts behind what Townsend believes is the only military court martial and execution of an Australian child were not too hard to piece together. The Australian government, knowing the Japanese were on their way to Rabaul, sent a ship to evacuate all women and children, while leaving the civilian men and the military garrison to face the enemy. Marjorie, fatefully, decided to stay. When the Japanese invaded, Marjorie, Dicky, Jimmy, Ted and Bill fled into the jungle. Betrayed by a local man, they were caught and searched. Ted had a two-way radio with him, with which he had been trying to contact Australian aircraft. Marjorie had hidden a pistol in her bag.
They were court-martialled, found guilty of espionage and, on May 18, 1942, driven to the base of Tavurvur volcano in the back of an open truck. Marjorie tied a strip of red material, cut from a native lap-lap, around Dickies head to cover his eyes. They were led from the truck and lined up. Marjorie held one of Dickies hands, Ted Harvey the other, and on the order of Japanese naval officer Mizusaki Shojiro, a firing squad of six soldiers shot them dead.

As horrible as this was. Many civilians (of all ages) met even worse deaths. To some of them ISIS would be considered pikers.
I post where admin tells me to post, and I’ve been told different things over the years. They can move it if they want it, but the rules seem to be rather flexible in my experience.
Of course the Japanese apologized....NOT.
The atomic bombs were necessary.
And so were interment camps
Except it is hardly a Current Event
Japan’s feudal culture was despicable and brutal and extremely sexist (not unlike islam). It will always lead to abject poverty and brutality. “Silence” by Scorcese is worth watching and showcases life without the Christian worldview of Free Will and Individual Natural Rights from God and never the State.
All worldviews/cultures are NOT the same. Multiculturalism and “Diversity” were put into American schools to tear down Western Civilization, so that the most brilliant, just, free country in the world’s history could be demonized and the brilliant philosophy erased from all the minds of all the children.
Schools are erasing Philosophy, Theology, History, Objective Truth (God) and all traditions so their artificial, unnatural utopia, where Slavery is Freedom and Boys are Girls can be installed and the Natural Family (all Natural Rights) destroyed for a totalitarian state of complete slavery.
The Age of Reason and Renaissance and Modern Science and the US Constitution were only concepts that could be imagined with the Chrsitian worldview. No other belief system is so rational and based on Natural Laws-—Laws of Nature and nature’s God. Our Natural Rights (sodomy and baby-killing and euthanasia are NOT “natural rights) only come from God and predate all governments and are unalienable. We can’t give them away even if we wanted. Now, why have our “judges” thrown out the Constitution and our Natural Rights and created “Rule of Man” which is the Japanese and Islamic worldview? It is unconstitutional.
I agree - and if admin would like to weigh in again and tell me where they would like me to post these things I’ll follow what they say. But I am doing what they told me to do last time they decided to tell me where to post (note - not criticising them - it’s a largely thankless task done by volunteers which is why I just try to do what they tell me to do)
What strikes me is the formality of this. Most executions of non-combatants in the 20th Century were of two types.
“Heat of the moment” killings by troops, (the SS in Oradour-sur-Glane, France, The Germans across E. Europe, the Russians in East Prussia, Rape of Nanking)
Systemic policy killings (the Holocaust, Soviet Purges, Pogroms across E. Europe)
This one was unique. They simply tried and executed a whole family as suspected spies under the color of law. The fact that one of them was a child seems to have been irrelevant to the Japanese.
Perhaps this man was executed. I did read a book by an Australian prisoner of the Japanese called Russell Braddon. His theme was forgiveness. He expressed regret, because a fellow Australian beat a vicious Japanese guard to death, when the surrender came. The man broke both his hands on the guard.
All hard to understand unless one had those same experiences.
The Japanese army was the 1930s-40s version of ISIS.
Japan deserved every nuke and firebombing it got.
Mizaki Shojiro escaped justice. He was almost certainly guilty of a number of war crimes besides this one, but he managed to avoid being identified in the initial prosecutions and by the time they tracked him down, it had been decided not to proceed with further trials.
Read about the Japanese Army’s behavior during their invasion of Manchuria. History doesn’t refer to it as the rape of Nanking for nothing! The mother is lucky she wasn’t raped hundreds and hundreds of times by soldiers and then finally by bayonettes. The actions of the Japanese Army defy belief by anyone with a shred of conscience. It’s nearly impossible to accept that people would act like that. They made ISIS look like boy scouts.
Yes, and fortunately for us up to now, ISIS' average IQ is at least 20 points lower than the Japanese army.
And needed once more in a different part of the world.
“As horrible as this was. Many civilians (of all ages) met even worse deaths. To some of them ISIS would be considered pikers.”
During the Rape of Nanking, the Nazi envoy complained to Berlin about the savagery of the Japanese.
When you’re making Nazis puke, you’ve stepped over the line.
American civilian construction workers on Wake Island were murdered by the Japanese as were British civilians on teh island of Nauru.
