This simple change in government policy could mean a lot more transparency

The nation's top telecom and cable regulator wants to give Americans a better view into the workings of their government. So, in a first-ever pilot project, the Federal Communications Commission has begun publishing the full text of proposals and regulations that the public would otherwise never see until after they have been finalized and approved.

On Thursday, FCC officials released two such documents: a proposed order that, if approved, could relax some regulations concerning AM-to-FM radio transmitters, as well as a notice saying that the agency hopes to draw up new rules allowing the use of a “next-generation” broadcast TV technology.

“a “next-generation” broadcast TV technology”

OTA broadcast 4K aka UHD TV. Way more flexible data stream, allowing much more interesting video/data delivery.

Pity I don’t get a d@mn OTA signal in my house.

My prediction: The MSM will be all in on “openness” right up until the leftist return to power. If that calamity occurs we will then see how it is necessary for the government to issues edicts in secret for the good of the people.

FWIW, I saw this on DealNews.com - Ematic HD TV Motorized Outdoor Antenna with 150-Mile Range . Walmart is carrying it for $25. Reviews are so-so, but for $25 and easy returns, why not?

I'm thinking about trying it. I live on the side of a hill below the ridgeline and am blocked from receiving some signals. Unless you're in a deep valley you should be able to get some OTA TV channels.

I already use a $45 indoor antenna and get about 20 stations within about 15 miles.

I’m guessing my house is a giant Faraday cage, and I’m not inclined to run cables from the attic thru walls just to see if I can get ad-driven drivel.

The OTA 4K is more technically fascinating than anything. I’m interested in how it works, not in using it.

Clearly. Congress should be investigating ways to limit presidential prerogatives in a way which would be acceptable to Mr. Trump. So that when/if that dolorous day returned that we had another president like Obama, more laws would be in place for him/her to break.

</sarcasm>

Such laws should allow for civil cause of action against a POTUS who had installed a toady as Attorney General.

It would have to be very carefully written to avoid abuse against an honest POTUS. But clearly, the “watchdog” press is no defense against socialist abuses because journalists are socialists.
