Community members congregated at the Islamic Society of Orange County on Wednesday evening for an event titled #IStandWithHijabis, showing their solidarity with Muslim women who wear headscarves as a spiritual act to honor God.
Hijabs have been the source of much controversy over the past several months, particularly in the context of hate incidents, as Muslim women around the country have reported being harassed by people pulling their scarves, and in some cases, even ripping them off.
