President Donald Trump vowed Thursday morning at the National Prayer Breakfast to totally destroy a provision barring religious groups from participation in politics.
I will get rid of and totally destroy the Johnson Amendment and allow our representatives of faith to speak freely and without fear of retribution, he said. I will do that. Remember.

Many Progressive churches have done this for years but because they promoted liberal causes and candidates, there were few objections. Conservative churches caught hell if there was a hint of mixing politics and religion.
“You mean there was a law against that?”
-”Rev” Al Sharpton.

How can he keep up working on those campaign promises. His politician membership card is in jeopardy
What if they say gambling should be illegal?
He might come to appreciate the amendment, or, he might change his mind about gambling.
(my views not very fixed on this one)
This is gonna be so fun.
Did you hear that IRS?
Time for a good house cleaning.

I’m really liking all this winning!
I remember seeing a lot of Gore yarmulkes in synagogues. I don’t remember any left leaning clergy holding their breath on politics.
I do think we need some definition on what is protected and what isn’t. Some Christian places of worship (thinking of cardinal Mahoney’ illegals) and some Muslim harbor criminals. I’m not ok with that.
How many black churches have Democrats literally give a stump speech from the pulpits on sundays during election season?
His promise to do that early on was one of the big reasons I voted for him. I thank God that he had true believers as mentors when he began this journey.
No mention in the link of the special treatment black churches receive.
It’s not as if many churches - both liberal and conservative - haven’t been actively involved in politics for decades. Getting away with the law might eliminate the hypocrisy and double-standards and deviousness.
Full tape of event is 1:38:54, but if you dont have time, here are the time breakdowns. Or, break it up over a couple of days to watch it all.
Intros are interesting, a background on how the Senate and House meet for prayer every week; but if time is tight, skip to the beginning of Chaplain Blacks incredibly powerful speech at 21:43.
Immediately following, Mark Burnetts speech at 51:15 is coming from his loving friendship with DJT for 15 years as they created The Apprentice.
Immediately next, President Trumps riveting speech begins at 1:01. He refers to Tillerson and Mattis a few times; also how he learned the Bible from his parents. (ends at 1:21)
Remarks by Delaware Dem. Senator Coons (good part starts at 1:25 and ends at 1:27) referring to DJT's trip to visit the family of slain Delaware Navy Seal yesterday, and a hands-on prayer for DJT.
Then, song by "Mercy Me" Christian pop singers. DJT and Mark Burnett sit there swaying to the music aww!
Finally at 1:33, surprising remarks by a Senator Amy Klobuchar very funny!
Maybe some hypocrisy is unavoidable when religion and politics intersect.
We should think twice before doing something that would allow churches and other charities to become even more politicized.
Might as well do aware with it, if it is only going to be selectively enforced (against white churches).
