Bodega owners across New York City plan to shut down their businesses on Thursday to protest President Trump's executive order on immigration.
"This shutdown of grocery stores and bodegas will be a public show of the vital role these grocers and their families play in New York’s economic and social fabric," the organizers of the event wrote on their Facebook page.
According to BuzzFeed News, the bodega business community in New York City is mainly dominated by Yemeni Americans, many of whom are upset by the president's ban on immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries. Yemen is one of the countries affected by the ban.

I worked in New York for 20 years. There are a million places to buy what you need. Many of them not owned by yemenis.
They’re only being consistent. They did the same thing for other Presidents Clinton, Carter, Obama.
So it won’t stink as badly anymore? I’d rather clean up fresh dog crap than walk in NYC at lunch time.

To really show how vital they are, they should shut down for 6 months (or longer).

Think of this as a public service. You may not know which deli you should avoid, and which you should frequent. After this protest you will know which deli does not deserve your business. There are several on a block in Manhattan that all look the same. Now you can make an informed choice.

In another message (Probably a Fake News Message, actually) an anonymous Bodega owner stated that the importance of adding new customers will always override the tragedy of a few deaths from the occasional Muslim terrorist that slipped through the cracks in the vetting system.
He went on to say: “The more, the merrier” referring, we assume, to the increased in his customer base and not the incidental increase in deaths from terrorists. I repeat, we assume.
Remember where that US solder was killed last week. Not in an American bodega. As Trump would tell you, there are lots of bad dudes in Yemen.

Trump has turned on the light and had the roaches of society scamper out in public.

Awesome! They lose out on a day’s revenue, the city loses out a day’s tax revenue, and liberals all over the city can’t buy stuff they desperately need at the last minute making them angry and frustrated.
