Didn’t the Starbx CEO just announce, essentially, that he only welcomes liberal money? “I will hire only refugees’ or something. “We are the world,’ he said. Best that he would follow Robert Redford’s announcement that politics has no place in the art world. Nor does it in restaurants, unless you want to offend your customers.
It’s not hard to boycott something that is incredibly over-priced and tastes terrible :)
I take it the “let’s rap about race relations” messages on the cups didn’t lead to explosive growth in the sub-par-coffee-hidden-by-lots-of-sugary-flavorings coffee market?

Well, that’s not what they announced and there is a lot of incorrect information being bandied about today. Many people are making assumptions and commenting without reading the announcement.
I’m no big fan of Starbucks, and I always try to find independent espresso houses. But he’s talking about hiring 10,000 refugees “in 75 countries around the world”, not in the US. He also talked about hiring people who put their lives on the line to help US troops as translators, which I don’t necessarily see as a bad thing either.
Like I said, I’m not a big fan of Starbucks, but IMO it is important to get our facts right.

There are an equal amount of gaudy painted and signed payday-title loan shacks as there are Starbucks locations in my city. The loan places likely thrive via Starbucks crowd customers.

Yes. Their politics has become a cult that urges them to separate from friends and family who do not agree 100 per cent. Chanting, marching, mindlessly repeating phrases, banning, burning stomping. This is not normal person behavior.
