John Hurt Dead at 77

Award winning actor John Hurt reportedly died on Friday after a battle with cancer. The 77-year-old actor, who starred in films such as “Harry Potter” and “The Elephant Man,” passed away after suffering from pancreatic cancer, according to London’s Mirror newspaper. Hurt contemplated his demise during an interview he did in 2015 while fighting the disease

He did a kinda weird film called “frankenstein unbound” which I actually liked. In addition to the many great roles mentioned, he made the 50th anniversary of “Doctor Who” very special with his portayal of the “War Doctor”.

He made a hilarious Caligula in “I, Claudius” and was always reliably good in any role he was in. RIP.

A few years ago he portrayed the War Doctor - an incarnation of The Doctor that had never been revealed before, the one who fought in the Time War - for the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who.

And so was Patricia Quinn, better known as Magenta in The Rocky Horror Picture Show which she appeared in the year before I Claudius.

John Hurt was totally believable as Caligula which is a compliment to his acting ability.

Pancreatic cancer is a devil disease. The pancreas, being essential, can’t be removed. That leaves radiation and chemotherapy, both of which often fail. Just ask the late Chief Justice Rhenquitst. Prayers up.
