Academia feels entitled to their pay, status and benefits. They are unlikely to quit on their own. What we have to do is turn off the money tap for courses that do not lead to an employable skill. We have to stop students from being required to spend a percentage of their money on “Masturbation 101, Black Studies, and Underwater Basket weaving.” It’s fine if people want to take those courses. It is not fine that us taxpayers have to pay the bill when there is almost zero possibility the loan will ever be paid back.
