WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House vowed on Sunday to fight the news media "tooth and nail" over what it sees as unfair attacks, with a top adviser saying the Trump administration had presented "alternative facts" to counter low inauguration crowd estimates.
On his first full day as president, Trump said he had a "running war" with the media and accused journalists of underestimating the number of people who turned out Friday for his swearing-in.
White House officials made clear no truce was on the horizon on Sunday in television interviews that set a much harsher tone in the traditionally adversarial relationship between the White House and the press corps.
"The point is not the crowd size. The point is the attacks and the attempt to delegitimize this president in one day. And we're not going to sit around and take it," Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said on "Fox News Sunday."

Keep in mind the leftists are masters at deception, it’s what they do and have been doing for decades. Hoping Trump can bring some sanity back to modern “journalism” but I’m not too confident.
It seems that it should be pretty simple to get picture AT TIME OF TRUMP and other president’s speeches and show apple-to-apple comparison. It is one thing to say, and I had the TV on all day and know it is correct, that the picture media showed was from hours earlier, but to show real comparison would seal the deal with everyone. SHOW THE LIE.
Seems to me that a reasonable response would be to pull their FCC licence if they continue to broadcast lies.
> “ the traditionally adversarial relationship between the White House and the press corps”
“traditionally adversarial”??? Where has the press been the last 8 years???
Finally a Republican president with some backbone and a staff to go along with it.
I don’t care if the media become tweet reporters.

These pictures did not exist at the time of the initial lies, but then there is that expression about how fast the lie travels before the truth gets out of bed.
But that was then, and this is now. There are tons of pictures from behind Trump, looking out across the malls thru to the washington memorial. But, there was some damage done here, so the battle should be fought, if only to set the precedent going forward.
But, be mindful of the larger issue - setting the rules of the game early, putting the enemedia in its place rather than letting it create rotten chemistry.
That is the take-away.
Irrespective of the actual crowd sizes - the important thing from the Trump team is a message to the media. We will absolutely not sit here and let you run wild [like the did with Bush and 0bama].
His first lesson teach media how to report news not make it up.
Even Fox News is berating the President and Press Sec. Spicer for picking “a mindless fight” with the media over the crowd size photos. However, the media was doing this to play into the Democrats’ contention that the President isn’t popular, and they probably were distorting the facts as they usually do. (Spicer should have asked them to produce time stamps on both photos, since the Trump crowds arrived later because of the security searches and the Soros protesters blocking gates.)
Trump needs to cut their financial throats, then he needs to make their industry the focus of Government RICO prosecutions for attempting to manipulate elections through omission of information necessary to voters.
The Liberal Media monopoly is the United States most dangerous enemy.
They did that in 1995 too. They never seemed to grasp that rather than cowering before them, they should have been working to eviscerate them.
Not going to happen while liberals are still around.
This. They want more government? Trump needs to give them more government, right up their @$$.
I have long advocated attacking their licenses to combat their misuse of the channels to disseminate false or deceptive propaganda.

CNN thinks they define a US President for the World. That is more dangerous than anything about the press and must be stopped. It may take the destruction of CNN. I’m OK with that.
Aw, c’mon. GWB couldn’t even figure out how to put on his poncho during the inauguration, and now you want him to start taking notes? We’re still not sure he can read, write or tie his own shoe laces.
I watched the press conference on Saturday & Spicer showed the later pic that had the mall chock full of people.
