Israels prime minister on Sunday accepted an invitation to visit the White House next month in hopes of forging a common vision for the region with President Donald Trump that could include expanded settlement construction on occupied territories and a tougher policy toward Iran.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his plans to head to Washington in early February hours after delaying a vote on an explosive proposal to annex one of the West Banks largest settlements, apparently to coordinate his policy toward the Palestinians with the new administration.
The move put on hold legislation that threatens to unleash fresh violence and damage already faded hopes for Palestinian independence. It also may have marked Trumps first presidential foray into Middle East diplomacy.

Meanwhile, Self-Haters heads explode across USA
Trump needs to END this talk of a “deal”.
Thank you for posting. I was waiting to hear how their conversation went, but maybe the reporting is only the tip of the iceberg now that one of their own residents is possibly going to be the U.S. Ambassador.
And you can bet PM Netanyahu will NOT be ushered in past the trash as he was forced to do with Obama, but will be greeted formally by President Trump just as he will greet other heads of state.
Nor will the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists get a free pass through the White House’s front door.
My God. Leaders around the world must be sighing in relief.
Our enemies shake in their boots.
This meeting with Bibi is probably to discuss expanded settlements, going against the UN, and I hope moving the American embassy to Jerusalem.
But what about the inauguration attendance???
Tu BShevat?
How about a reciprocating move by having Trump visit Bibi in Jerusalem at the new US embassy there after it is built? They can have a building dedication by reciting the Shehecheyanu blessing in Hebrew and English.
That would make the Left have the mother of all conniption fits!
Drive the muzzie bastards back into Jordan.
What’s the over/under on Netanyahu not being forced to use the servants entrance this time?
BTW
Remember this article that was posted here just a few days back?
Tom Cotton, Joe Manchin Praise Obama’s ‘Dignity’
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3515853/posts
Right!
How do Cotton and Manchin reconcile Obama’ treatment of Netanyahu with their idea of presidential dignity?
Remember when Netanyahu gave a speech at a joint session of Congress, and Obama didn’t attend?? Obama was in Washington and couldn’t take any time out of his schedule to meet with the prime minister of Israel during his visit to Washington.
Nice to see things are different now.
Mr Prime Minister, now you are welcomed to our country at any time. Thank you for your great work on behalf of Israel and peace in the Middle East.
That is an area where Trumps expertise in construction can come in handy.
Our bloated government is usually able to drag out construction of a new embassy building for years and years.
Trump will need to get a new one built and occupied in no more than 3 years.
Then sell off or tear down the old one.
PS - Planning for the new US Embassy building in London began in 2008, groundbreaking was in 2013 and it had an estimated cost of $1 BILLION dollars.
A big part of that cost is for designing a green building with "environmemntal concerns' in mind.
What the final cost will be is unknown.
There has to be a deal. Something definitive must be done with the people living in what the UN has determined to be Palestine.
Maybe the deal needs to be expanded ... say to include Jordan ... but there needs to be a deal.
Good news!!!
Jordan ceded the land lost to Israel in the War.
