Public Information Statement National Weather Service Jacksonville FL 1104 AM EST Sun Jan 22 2017

...High Risk of long lived and destructive tornadoes today...

North Florida and southeast Georgia residents,

The severe weather event we are about to go through has the potential to be one of the most severe weather outbreaks since the 1993 Super Storm and possibly like the big tornado outbreak near the University of Alabama a few years ago. A Tornado Watch called a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) is likely to be issued for our area later today. Unfortunately reports are that 11 people have already died in southern Georgia overnight. You need to take this situation extremely seriously, like you would a potential hurricane. Some things you need to know

You don't see a High Risk of severe weather very often. And you almost never see the NWS draw a comparison to the two past Super Outbreaks.

What, they didn’t give names to these storms?

That’s the Weather Channel, for winter storms.

Hopefully your birds won’t be doing the Dorothy later today. Stay safe.

Accuweather has thunderstorms for Atlanta through 2:00 PM, cloudy the rest of the day. Thinking Ryan-Rodgers.

I have a daughter in Georgia. Is Macon metro area in the path of this weather?

It was in the 80’s here yesterday in NE Florida. We’re ripe for severe weather.

It is in the watch area, although it is to the north of the highest-risk forecast area, she still needs to keep an eye on the TV.

I live near downtown Atlanta. It’s overcast, but the storms are on the way. Hopefully, fans will be inside the Dome before it hits.

My son & family live in Houston County. Said it was bad yesterday. Funnel. Clouds spotted nearby, roof collapsed at Walmart in Warner Robins.

Thank God no lives lost or serious injuries. Only property damage. Son’s house had no damage.

Not so lucky in South Georgia. :-(

From my Weather App:

Warner Robins (just south of Macon)
Tornado Watch until 8pm
Flash Flood Watch ubtil 7pm
Wind Advisory until 7 pm

I slept through the storms last night (Forsyth County). Hubby said it rained hard. As it stands we have a flash flood watch & wind advisory until 7. Overcast but as you said, the storms are heading this way.

Anyone lucky enough to have tickets best arrive sooner rather than later.

I’m in Savannah. It has rained a whole bunch here to say the least.

The flood plan of flooding the golf course with the overflow is working quite well.

No windstorm. Just gov moonbeam blowing hot air about the new global warming initiative he is planning.

Just saw TV coverage from Cecil, GA just south of Adel. South Georgia Motorsports Park, my favorite drag strip, was very badly damaged. They have had financial problems in the past, so insurance coverage will determine if they survive or not. Easily in excess of $500,000 damage.
