The Twitter account @POTUS was transferred to newly inaugurated President Donald Trump on Friday, dropping 10 million followers initially after the transfer. Former President Barack Obama created the @POTUS Twitter handle when Twitter began to become a prominent part of American culture, but always planned to pass it on to the next president when the transfer of power occurred. The former president’s account and tweets were transferred to @POTUS44, where they will be archived. His 13.8 million followers were added to the new account automatically.

Author has details wrong, nothing was added nor deleted. POTUS was renamed to POTUS44 and a fresh POTUS account with no tweets nor followers was created for Trump, thus Trump did not “lose” 10 million followers at the POTUS account, as that account never had a single follower. There is a screen cap out there when the account had just 400 followers moments after creation.

Farewell? Barry’s last phone call to a foreign leader was to Angela Merkel. Barry is staying, at the moment, with his former ambassador to Spain. Coinkydink? After the dirty dossier? I don’t think so. I think Barry is getting his marching orders, and will be back to do some damage after his handlers regroup.

Trump is still using his @realDonaldTrump account. He retweets his posts from one account to the other.
Thank you for posting this, it explains something I saw yesterday. I rarely look at tweet responses, but I did so by accident yesterday when I unintentionally clicked on a tweet. The answers to that tweet were filled with vileness and lies. Now I know it is because Obama’s followers were not purged from the @POTUS account. I hope Trump purges them soon; having them post their filth as soon as he tweets can be damaging to his attempts to communicate directly with the people.
The insignificant won should have been assigned @XPOTUS44.

"Renaming" an account is likely too advanced a concept for the average MSM hack to comprehend. Besides which it destroys the more-important narrative the MSM want to push that the @potus account "lost" 10M followers (see how everyone hates Trump!).
Shutdown POTUS44 ASAP!
