Ohio State University will offer a safe space for students today as the nation inaugurates Republican Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States.
The purpose of this event is to foster a safe space for the Ohio State campus community to connect with one another, support aspirations, and empower growth and change, organizers state.
The I, too, am America event is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include three concurrent offerings from noon to 3 p.m.: a screening of the inauguration festivities in one room; another room set aside to pause, reflect and share; and a third swath of rooms for teach-ins by grad students, faculty and staff.
The event was reportedly inspired by Langston Hughes poem I, Too, and will also include poetry reading workshops and a community mural art project.
The Ohio State Universitys media department and the Student Life Multicultural Center did not respond to several requests from The College Fix seeking comment.
According to organizers, attending the program will teach students how to define social justice and identify at least two social justice issues, as well as identify at least one lesson, idea, tool, or strategy to apply to their academic and personal experiences.
Ohio State is not the only campus offering such a venue. The University of Connecticut will host The Peoples Inauguration, slated to be held at the same time as the swearing in ceremony, oath of office and inaugural address.
Like at Ohio State, the goal of the UConn event is to promote social justice and solidarity as Trump takes office, event organizers said.
Other students plan to express themselves in a more aggressive manner. A student socialist group has organized a nationwide walkout on Friday to protest the presidential inauguration, claiming Trump is planning to unleash a storm of attacks on various segments of the American population. Students at dozens of colleges are expected to participate.
THE humanity ! lmao
Snowflake butthurt over Trump’s swearing-in.
Schadenfreude has never been more delicious.
They’ll have to get used to Trump being around for a long time.
Safe spaces can’t shield them from reality forever.
You’d think the Leftist universities would be embarrassed to announce this dreck, but apparently they are catering to the needy children in the their nursery.
Pansy Pen
What a bunch of losers.
It's just overt anti-American indoctrination. They have no shame.
They should be charged with child-abuse, it's mental torture...creating an irrational fear where there needs to be none, using that fear to shape the minds of children.
It is time to close Ohio State University and send everyone home. There is no room for education at that school.
Why not. In the playoff game their football team found a safe space from scoring points.
“Safe space” = “exclusion zone for conservatives”.
Counselors, Prozac, puppies and all will be handed out at the door. I thank God above that I will not be on this planet when THIS bunch becomes adults and are in charge of the nation. At least I will be in Heaven when these are running the show. I will be with Him. This nation will be under the devil by then. Nothing Trump can do to stop the evil from coming that is now upon the earth and this nation. The darkness of satan’s last days is here. The End Times are upon us as Scripture clearly tells us.
Hey Buckeyes - cowboy the heck up! If you have snowflakes on campus that need a safe space, then escort them off campus. They have no business at Ohio State, And, if you think they should be coddled over this, you should leave too.
Geez, Louise! First Clemson, and now this??
As a technical person who’s come up against OSU, THE Ohio State University in various bids and efforts in the past when I was working I always wondered at just what this perceived “prowess” it possess. In the end, I concluded it was solely because of the Air Force Research Labs at Wright-Patterson in expending so much generosity towards it.
Today, here, now, with this ridiculous sublimation of whatever prestige THE Ohio State University ever had at all to “safe spaces,” I feel vindicated in my assessments.
Very pleased Clemson won.
If there are any people with balls at Ohio State, may I suggest that this is a perfect Safe Space Invasion Day, and that a few whiners and weiners need to get slapped in the face with hard, cold reality?
The “safe space” is only safe and “empowering” for anti-Trump snowflakes.
