The White House said Wednesday that President Obama granted clemency for transgender military secrets leaker Chelsea Manning “in pursuit of justice,” and accused congressional Republicans of hypocrisy for criticizing the commutation.
“Chelsea Manning was convicted of serious crimes,” said White House press secretary Josh Earnest. “She also took responsibility for those crimes. She expressed remorse for those crimes.”
He said Manning’s 35-year prison term was “much longer than the sentence that was handed down to people who committed similar crimes that got much less attention.”

He still has a little over a day left to extend the same “justice” to Bo Bergdahl.
At this point I don’t think Obama has enough time to release all terrorists, evacuate Gitmo and give it to Cuba. That’s a relief because I thought he was going to do that.
And a couple light scratches where it pretended to try to kill itself.
I say he/she/it doesn’t see 2018.
I’ll be a pragmatist. One less issue for DJT to deal with. The LGBT community would constantly have used Manning as an excuse to protest.

I don’t remember it exactly like that. I remember that much of the content that Manning had stolen was very embarrassing for the State Dept, mainly. He had access to their classified docs (carelessly stored under Hillary, of course) through the military side of the main server.
I do remember them shifting their stance when he said he did so because he was angry, confused, and frustrated by his sexuality.

Maybe it’ll have better success where it has less supervision and better access to the right tools.
Manning is just moving to a ‘Free Fire’ zone.

As I recall he was charges with a crime which call for possible death sentence but it was plea bargained down. But evidence was sufficient for death penalty charge. Now this??
