George H.W. Bush was just admitted to intensive care unit with pneumonia and his wife, Barbara, was also admitted. H.W.'s office says he's in stable condition, but as a precaution doctors performed some sort of procedure to clear his airway. He received anesthesia and was moved into the intensive care unit. H.W.'s resting comfortably where he will remain, at least for the short term. Meanwhile, Barbara Bush was also admitted to the Houston hospital Wednesday morning after experiencing what H.W.'s office says is fatigue and coughing. Story developing ...
Pneumonia is quite serious for the elderly, prayers for the former President and First Lady.
True or not. Convenient timing. Could just be an excuse for the entire Bush clan not to go to the inauguration.
Give their tickets to some blue collar workers.
This is going to give 43 an out.
Sorry, George W. will not be able to attend the inauguration, due to not wanting to leave his failing parents.....
I am fine with them not going. their time is over.
Yes, I agree.
I’m traveling, but still able to read articles/follow news, in a limited form.
From above CNN link (and national news, throughout the day).....
Jim McGrath told CNN that the 41st president has been hospitalized at Houston Methodist Hospital since Saturday, and later said in a statement the cause was “an acute respiratory problem stemming from pneumonia. Doctors performed a procedure to protect and clear his airway that required sedation
DITTO
Prayers for both of them.
2+ Amen to your prayers
Ooooooo! Careful what you predict, Georgie! LOL!
My mother met Barbara Bush at a Navy function. She said that she was very pleasant and completely unpretentious.
“Watch this thread and others. Not sure we are anymore.”
I was appalled at some of the posts when Biden’s son died. Thankfully most of the posters got stomped on pretty hard. I’ve lost a son. I would wish it on no one.
People are more awake than ever. That’s a good thing.
Except he didn’t.
No new taxes...
Good genes....
You didn’t say leave it to God....
At what age do you consider ICU to be a waste of space? In September, at age 85, I entered ICU unconscious, stayed 3 days, completely recovered and now take care of my home, do my shopping, outside chores, keep the woodbox full and tend my wood fire. I’m sure my family did not consider my ICU stay a waste of space.
I pray for the Bushes. While I never considered George to be an effective president, I didn’t feel that he did anything maliciously and intentionally to try to harm this country. I attended a luncheon at Walker’s Point as a guest of Barbara and George and found them very gracious and unpretentious.
In the 60s, during the gas shortage Barbara rode around Kennebunkport on a scooter, came to the Post Office and did the crossword puzzle in the daily paper and chatted with natives while waiting for the mail to be sorted into the boxes. Within the last 5 years, I encountered her in a local store where she did her shopping and carried two large bags to her car-although she didn’t drive herself. She must have asked the Secret Service not to accompany her in the store as I am sure they would have had she not otherwise directed them.
George and Barbara lost a toddler. Can’t imagine watching your child die of cancer and being unable to save them. Horrible!!!!!!!
I am glad you recovered and are doing well!
Thanks for writing that nice paragraph about the Bushes.
I’ve met HW and Mrs. Bush several times and like them as people. Very warm and kind people. But I didn’t always agree with what he did as President.
Just had that happen in our town. Jack and Jane married for 64 years. 94 and 93 respectfully.
Jack came home from shopping and found his wife dead. He called 911. When they arrived they found him slumped over his wife's body. He died the next day.
