Actually, aside from the nonsense of the "Southern Strategy", this article is surprisingly insightful.

When President-elect Donald Trump replaces Barack Obama on January 20, the Democratic Party will find itself more removed from power than at almost any point since the party’s creation.

WOO HOO - Party at my house this Friday!

“Democrats are now locked out of power in Washington and out of two-thirds of state legislative chambers across the country...”

And once Trump’s pick hits the bench, all that is left is a few senate seats.

If Trump could just make a concerted effort to pull in black and Hispanic conservatives (which aren’t really a small percentage), the Democrats have lost power for generations — particularly if they don’t change their message and look more toward the working class.

I’m very surprised at how NBC could have come up with an honest view of this election. I’m sure it’ll get buried somewhere in their archives.

Not a word about “safe minority’ districts. The Dims where hoisted on their own racial quota systems petard in Congressional districts. Did the Pubbies gerrymander? Yes and in large part by partnering up with Dim minority candidates. In order to get enough minorities into a district to guarantee the election of a minority candidate requires some areas to be very homogenous. Oh the racial political irony that you need a broad dispersal of minorities to elect white Democrats.

He also ignores the fact that Dims have a minority racial preference in their primaries as well. Special interest group’s votes are more heavily weighted so as to generate more minority candidates.

So when you overlay minority weighted primaries on minority safe congressional districts and those on over minority concentrated geographic areas you a have a 3X dilution of minority voting power. Especially y when you consider that most minorities vote Dim.

They don’t seem to get that in a few years, millenials will be approaching 40, will have been in the work force for 10 or 15 years, and may have an entirely different ideas about politics.

I have seen this in my own family; you advance in your career, you buy a house, and all of a sudden different things matter to you.

A more accurate title:

Despite the title, the article says nothing about John Kerry.

The author is under the misconception that Hillary won a majority of the popular vote.

“Democrats have long grumbled about their disadvantage in the Senate, where the heavily populated blue states of California and New York get the same two senators as do tiny red Wyoming or Idaho.”

Jeez, is there nothing in the Constitution that Democrats like?

I would argue that they are missing a whole lot more in this article. Its jobs and values when it comes down to it.

The results show Democrats’ unintentional self-gerrymandering is arguably a bigger handicap than the GOP’s intentional gerrymandering.

Like crap like this...

Look at the 5th district of FL or some of the other jacked up Dem districts.
