If that had to be done every day, it would be a pain in the butt!

Why not just land their own chopper on the lawn, and fly it to Trump Tower and land there? Security? It’s 250 miles from NYC to DC. Would that be about 45 min to one hour trip by chopper? or less?

It would cut 30 min. from the trip, be less hassel, use less fuel and require fewer persons which could potentially reduce security concerns. The landing and take off’s are the most dangerous parts...

Just a thought.

Yes, I don’t understand the plan. Seems straight chopper would be the way to go..but perhaps there is some security thing involved here with dummy transportation.

What’s the speed of a chopper she’d be flying? 100 mph or so?

I was wondering about the added "segments" as well.
Even though the jetliner is MUCH faster, the various transitions would slow the overall trip.
I somewhat liken it to driving the "long way" for a trip, yet the longer distance is on an interstate at 70 mph without traffic signals.

Why not just land their own chopper on the lawn ...

True fact: The WH lawn keeper has tremendous say on what kind of helicopter can land on the south lawn.

You can’t use interior airspace in Manhattan like pre 911

Anybody recall the Panam heliport atop the building over GCS

I flew in with my dad as a boy mid 60s

Amazing

When I lived in Manhattan everybody visited I took on the chopper tours from the downtown heliport

Well worth it

I think east River heliport is closest to her home at 34th street

But I agree a chopper seems best commute time to me

205 miles

An hour in a nice helicopter

She’d need series escort in the sky with middles and shields and chaffe just in case

That reported plan is probably just one of the dozen ways of transporting them back and forth. Security-wise you don’t want to take the same route each time.

LBJ used to fly AF-1 into Austin, TX and then helicopter to his ranch or lake house for the weekends. We’d see 4-5 helicopters flying over on Friday afternoons.
