Donald’s take will, more likely than not, be “kill them with kindness.” He wouldn’t do this with deadly-grade terrorists, but for nonsense on this level, that’s different.
Congress gave DC home rule in 1973, which the liberals therein treated like most appeasing GOP gifts. Congress can and should revoke it. Home rule as currently implemented is a failure, the ultimate constitutional authority over DC is Congress and the ultimate purpose of DC is to enable smooth functioning of the federal government. An argument could be made for returning outer residential areas of DC to MD and just leaving a core as ‘DC.’ Not that it would improve MD’s voting. It would increase liberal power unless the 23th were modified. Better to take DC back and have Congress use it as a test bed for conservative policies to revoke liberal urban blight.
