Of course MLK was a cheater and a womanizer. There is no doubt. But King was committed to non-violence at a time when blacks could easily have been lead in a violent direction. This country is better for his time with us.
At the time of his assassination, King was suffering a decline in popularity. Younger blacks were distancing themselves from his "non-violent" commitment they viewed as emasculating, choosing instead to embrace the more militant black-power movements. Fewer were attending his rallies. He was drinking excessively. Stress was taking a toll on his health.
A phenomenal page-turner of narrative non-fiction, Hellhound on His Trail is a straightforward, non-politicized account of the events leading up to that fateful night at the Lorraine Motel and the following manhunt for James Earl Ray, --who almost got away with it.

So true. Just compare with BLM, and the efforts of the violent/disruptive black community to steal the political mantle of MLK, to which they have no right.
King was a voice for non-violence and he called out the Nation of Islam as the same sort of wrong headed (black separatist) bigotry as the Klan.
Had he lived he might have tarnished his role in history even further. Jackson and Lewis certainly are examples of the type of demagogues who are around today and had roots in that movement.
PS JFK tried to stop the march on Washington. Wonder if that will be mentioned today.

Watching these blood dancers tell me all about MLK having women, J Edgar was taking it in the butthole. JFK, Ike and LBJ, and John Foster Dulles were legendary for affairs. But it only seems to matter when they want to tear down King.
If someone hates King, fine. But they should understand, he would have never happened, had black men coming back from WWII been able to ride a bus or train as they pleased, or sit down at a counter in a café.
You two are seeing things right. MLK was a flawed man who did some great things.
MLK bashing (by others) on MLK Day is much like how some of the far left behave on Washington’s birthday. While the majority of the country celebrates Washington’s great accomplishments, some lefties ignore all that. Instead, they concentrate on the fact that Washington owned slaves.
His sins with sex is between him and Jesus.
He may be known for nonviolence, but King liked to perpetrate violence upon the prostitutes that were procured for him.
He especially liked to beat white prostitutes.
