Unparalleled Resistance Looms for Trump After Inauguration
Wall Street Journal. ^ | 1/16/`7 | Janet Hook

Posted on 01/16/2017 4:05:03 AM PST by DoodleDawg

Remember, back in the day, when newly elected presidents enjoyed a honeymoon? Donald Trump isn’t getting one. His adversaries are in combat mode, as if the campaign never ended. Demonstrations are planned. Money is pouring into the coffers of liberal groups. Activists are calling for an ongoing “resistance” movement. Mr. Trump is getting a taste of his own medicine because he, too, is behaving as if the campaign never ended. For weeks, he has continued to lob provocative tweets about his critics and the media, derided people who supported Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, reveled in his election victory and took a victory lap of “thank you” rallies across the country in December. Now, when he takes office Jan. 20, Mr. Trump will be facing some of the most virulent opposition ever to confront a new president. His approval ratings, while on the rise, are still the lowest of any president-elect in recent polling history. President Barack Obama in 2009 faced resistance from the fledgling tea-party movement, but polls suggested that many opponents were cutting him slack as he was inaugurated: 67% viewed Mr. Obama positively in December 2008, compared to 41% who viewed Mr. Trump favorably in December 2016, according to Wall Street Journal/NBC News polls.

Oh, 0bama face opposition from day 1

The Tea Party didn't form until Obama actually did something, namely Porkulus. Whereas the Trump bashers were out the day after the election protesting. And they are joined by wide swaths of the intel community, most of the media and many leading Dems. Big difference, but they fail to realize that such antics only harden the resolve of Trump supporters.

Thanks for the post. It's good to see what WSJ says every once in a while so we can be sure to see our enemies clearly.

From the article...

Hey Janet Hook, do you truly believe Trump "derided" Hillary supporters and "reveled" in his election victory?

Or are you just saying that because the editors expect you to discredit the incoming President? Open your eyes, speak the truth, and stop presstituting yourself for a lousy paycheck!

John Lewis and every other person Trump has criticized has deserved every bit of the censure Trump gave them.

Lewis has failed to pay respect to the Office of the Presidency and is seeding the destruction of our people's republic that has delivered equal opportunity for all.

Very nice diagnosis to the problem. And I think what you said is something that Democrats need to read — for their own peace of mind.

Lies , lies and more damn lies. This halfrican never had more than a 40% favorability rating and the only reason he was not shot was he was a halfrican.

If he would have been all white, as pissed off he had Americans, he would have been popped.

Now for Trump, he just needs to put his big boy pants on and stop trying to run America from Twitter. The fly over country, the people in the mountains, the families running a cow/calf operation, the hard working people that put him in office do not run around all day with an Iphone implanted in their hands. They are working trying to put food on the table and clothes on their backs.

They are the meat on the bones of America and Trump needs to get down to their level on communication. He did not spend a lot of time in these areas but this is the area that carried him through and it is damn time he realized it. Some that I have spoke to wonder where they can go to be most effective on 1/20. They expect trouble.

Slowly, the rabid opposition will subside. Try as they might, Democrats will not be able to keep their faithful in a froth filled lather on a continual basis for the next four years.

There will be flows and ebbs, for sure, but gradually even Trump’s most rabid opponents will have to accept the fact that the lost and rather than keep crying over spilled milk, they’ll need to regroup and plot a way forward.

It may take a while, but they’ll get there. In the meantime, Trump needs to strike quickly and strike forcefully while they’re still blubbering in the midst of their tantrums.

There’s something very satisfying about seeing your enemy continually pulling the trigger long after their gun goes “click.”

And when the economy starts to improve so some of them get jobs, and the world does not end in a fiery conflagration, etc., some of them will start realizing just how much they have been snookered by the left.

It happens, as my nom de plume indicates. There are a few FReepers whose monikers indicate that they went through a similar process of awakening.

The understatement of the year. The left is going to yell, scream, throw things, make noise, break things, attack people physically, justify lawbreaking, encourage street thugs to burn, break and steal. The media will create a constant disturbance designed to destroy Trump’s presidency.
It has only begun.

I would say more then half the Trump agenda, the wall & illegal alien crack down, is already codified. How can anyone resist that? It is already law.

The jokes on them.
