There are a lot of JFK-DJT parallels.... but now we know our enemies.
God be with him and us.
Where specifically do you see Trump “taking on” the MIC? Just curious.
My Father hated Eisenhower with a passion. He was a combat veteran of the European Theater of Operations. He practically worshiped Patton but oddly enough, also liked Montgomery.
My Father hated Eisenhower with a passion.
Did he say why he hated him?
Leftists, believing that war is caused by greedy capitalists rather than Hitlers, Stalins, Tojos, etc., bring this up whenever they want to promote gutting the military.
An investor, no doubt.
just sayin’ ...Lock/Mart, F-35...

Not surprising because Montgomery stuck up for his country. Eisenhower was too much an international guy. Ike refused to admit Castro was a Commie. Ike was tough on those bad ole Arkansas Whites though.
For one thing, Daddy mistakenly thought Eisenhower was responsible for removing Patton from command in Sicily. When I tried to explain that Eisenhower stood by Patton and basically saved him from being forced to retire. Daddy had his comeback.
He said “I was there, I knew what happened”. I guess there is no was to argue with someone who pulls the “I was there” card because he was there. He still was wrong tho.
He also called Montgomery a fine Christian.
Thank you.
What you told your Dad was right.
I did agree with Daddy on Montgomery. I have seen a few interviews of German generals and when asked who were the best Allied generals they invariably say Patton and Montgomery.
Montgomery seems to be almost universally hated in the U.S.
There are some things that a good person just can't deal with.
“An investor, no doubt”.
I have no idea what you mean. What does an investor have to do with Ike during the war?
In 1977 I worked for JVC and drove an Audi. My father wondered just who the hell won the war?
he has made it pretty clear that he intends to invest heavily in our military and nuclear weapons. the Defense industry should be excited. I see him having bigger problems with the bankers than the MICC personally but I suppose they’re all part of the same beast ultimately.
No doubt the concept of managing war has won out over completely and efficiently destroying the enemy. Long, managed war sells more military armaments than wars fought for the sole purpose of ending it quickly.
Wars should be horrible so there can be fewer of them thus less money going to the military industrial complex.
Threatening to cancel the F-35, downgrading NATO, not wanting a new cold war...just for starters.
