China hits back at Trump, says one-China policy is 'non-negotiable'

China said Sunday that its one-China policy is “non-negotiable” after President-elect Donald Trump suggested that he might use American policy on Taiwan as a bargaining chip between the two sides.

China Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang reiterated in a statement that the “government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing China.”

"That is the fact acknowledged by the international community and no one can change,” Lu added.

Since recognizing Beijing in 1979, Washington has maintained only unofficial ties with Taiwan, the self-governing island that Beijing considers its territory — a status quo that Trump has repeatedly threatened to upend since winning the November election.

Trump told The Wall Street Journal on Friday that “everything is under negotiation, including ‘one China.’” The interview is the latest indication Trump that he will shake up the U.S.-China relationship, particularly on Taiwan, which China considers a core national interest.

China had already been rattled over Trump’s call with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, the first time an American president or president-elect had publicly spoken to Taiwan’s leader in nearly four decades.

It’s their back yard. I think they can but will they? It will be bloody and I don’t think we can do enough to stop them in the short term but they know long term it’s cutting their own throats. Chinese do think long term.

Trump should just say. ‘Well, we’ll just have to agree to disagree.....now, do you want to sell us some sort of electronics? Or should we go elsewhere in the Pacific rim for them?”

The correct response is to not negotiate and simply act as if it’s a done deal.

No Negotiation Required! As a sovereign nation, we are free to set OUR foreign policy and if you chicoms don't like it, take it up with Mad Dog!

If it were to drag on, their domestic issues would flare up and severely damage the leadership.

Oops. Democrats are not in charge any more China. YOU do not set our foreign policy. As Emiliano Zapata said, better to die on your feet, than live on your knees. You will NOT tell us what to do until you control this territory. And, at present you don’t control it. Better to be silent right now, China.

China has many internal problems with over building, general mis-allocation of resources and Hong Kong trying to re-assert its autonomy.

The Chinese are probably posturing to divert from internal dissent.

Trump could help fund Tibetans, Chinese Christians and Hong Kong autonomy movements. The Chicoms have had too much influence in US government, media, Hollywood and it needs to be rooted out.

Instead of negotiating it I guess we could just ignore it and treat Taiwan like the sovereign nation that it is. Whatcha gonna do about that, China?

If a two state solution is good enough for Israel,

The Chinese have always negotiated for the betterment of China. Americans have often negotiated for the betterment of something other than America.

American negotiators are looking to advance the NWO, not American interests. One of MANY reasons we elected soon to be President Trump.

So, when does one country tell another what they can or can’t do? I guess that is the way it has been for the last 24 years. So, that means, according to the wizards of smart and the Chinese that this can’t be changed.

The problem with negotiating with China is an hour later you want to start negotiations all over again.

The age old ad continues to play in the mind.
“It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature”.

With DJT at the helm of this ship, we’ve sailed by the demons in the waters and found a captain for our ship who cannot be fooled easily.

>>Is Red China prepared to go to economic war and military conflict over Taiwan?<<

They’ve prepared for war against the U.S. for decades. They WILL take it to the brink.

I doubt it. ——

Me too...

China in many ways is a paper tiger...

Military conflict...Chinese troops will never touch our soil...

Invade Taiwan...? Kill one of their golden gooses?
