A Senate Republican is blasting President-elect Donald Trump's criticism of Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), praising the lawmaker for his leadership in the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) on Saturday seized on Trump's characterization of Lewis as "All talk, talk, talk - no action," pointing out that his "talk" made a significant contribution in the civil rights movement.

"John Lewis and his 'talk' have changed the world," Sasse tweeted.

This Sasse is an ass. John Lewis called Trump an illegitimate president, and Sasse goes after Trump for pointing out that Lewis's district is in sad shape, with unemployment and high crime.

No, his ‘talk’ is and always has been marginally ignorant.

His contribution to the civil rights movement was that he got he head busted as a follower of MLK.

He is in Congress simply because of his connection to MLK and he is returned by unquestioned constant support from his constituency who value color over substance. It’s just that simple.

John Lewis managed to turn his “talk” from the 60s into a life project. It would be hard to find concrete examples of talk-into-action in his career as a congressman.

We The People are beyond sick and disgusted with these gutter slimes. They’re too stupid to realize they’re outing themselves and must be voted out at the first opportunity or recalled if possible. Drain the SWAMP in both parties. McSlime and Linda need to be first on the list, IMO.

Ben Sasse is joining the list of Democrats in R jerseys that need to be replaced.

Isn’t John Lewis one of the guys who asked the IRS to target the Tea Party?

Distractions and disruptions.

Neither Lewis nor Sasse are worth paying attention to.

So why hasn’t Lewis’s “talk” changed his district for the better in all this time?

It is not possible to recall Senators or Congressmen.
The best we can do is to Cantorize them in the primary and if that fails to hold our noses for the Democrat in the D jersey for one term just to get rid of the Democrats in R jerseys.

FUBS. Lewis uses his past civil rights hero status as a way of bullying dissenters into submission. He's a disgusting human being.

It's disgraceful Sasse is so petty and vindictive that he seeks to undermine Trump even though he's pushing the most conservative agenda since Reagan .

Sasse embarrasses himself with such nonsense. Lewis's job is not to talk and "change the world." His job is to better the lives of the citizens in his district. Are his constituents better off now than they were in the 1960s? I doubt it.

John Lewis surely has a “mean” and “angry” look after having eight straight years of ultra-liberalism. The only setback to “the dream”, as EMK called it, was Senator Grassley’s declining to let the Supreme Court nomination come before the Judiciary Committee.
