Exactly my thoughts. It’s not in the article who ordered the General off the job, but my bet is it was Obama as until 12:01 P.M. he’s the president.
President Trump has embeds shadowing this traitor . There may be legal significant to “noon”. IMO, There are whistle blowers who have come out will serious charges on this General and we will see much more of this. Also, I look for DC National guard line officers to be replaced at noon. Group and platoon level commanders will be removed with force if necessary. I hate to say this guy is Black but he is Black. I am concerned that this was to be an attempted coup. I note that a huge number ( 5000) of “out of state” and “unarmed” military are “supplementing” security. I see them as supplanting a possible coup d’ tat. They will be armed if necessary.
I just hope everyone leaves their garbage on the Mall so those silly women can have something to do the next day.

Just announce that law abiding attendees are free to defend themselves as they would do at home. Pennsylvania is only 2 hours away. West Virginia isn't far. etc. Might up attendance.
I’m sympathetic to that viewpoint. I do think Obama was the driving force.
It’s just my take on things, but I don’t think Trump would oust this guy mid operation, even if he doesn’t exactly have hands on. The guy has been on the job in the D.C. for some time.
I expect Trump to clean house of the rabble in short order though.

My bet would be that those teams would be smart enough not to deploy. If something happened they would be sure to be a top suspect group, Russia in particular.
Our media would love to zero in on both of them.
I wouldn’t be surprised they have ears to the ground though, and willing to alert our people if they heard anything.

And, organizationally, they are grouped in the DC public safety cluster, along with Metropolitan Police and DC Homeland Security / Emergency Management.

Why would Obama appoint Schwartz in Jan. 2009, when he was already appointed by Bush in 2008.
That would suggest that the appointment typically extends to the end of a presidential term.
If that is the case, then this story is a big nothing.

I was in DC from 1984-1991. I was active duty USAF. The Reagan and Bush inaugurations used thousands of active duty troops as well as Guard. We were allowed to volunteer. I did so in 1989. I was a master sergeant then. I was partly in charge of manning the parade route. Had to ensure the troops in my sector were correctly dispersed. So it was soldier, 20 ft, sailor, 20 ft, Marine, 20 ft, airman, 20 ft, repeat. They just had to stand there,, and look good. This was on Pennsylvania Ave, about 1/2 mile or so.
It was blast! The people watches the parade were super nice to the troops, enjoying themselves, giving hot cocoa and coffee to us. At one point, Pappy Bush got out of the car and walked right by us!
Point: we were NOT armed. If you see the details on the parade next Friday are armed, then holy sh1t!!!

If that happened, Trump could have a massive crackdown on dissenters. Sounds like the kind of thing Putin would do if he were in charge. Other questions. How is the head of the DC National Guard selected? How are the heads of the 50 other National Guards selected?
Head of the DC National Guard is appointed by the President, head of the State National Guards are appointed by the Governors of the States.
Sorry, WaPo. We don’t believe a word you publish anymore. You SAY you’ve obtained a memo, well you’re going to have to publish a photo of said memo to prove:
1. you even have a memo,
2. the memo isn’t a fake,
3. who in the Pentagon signed the memo, and
4. what exactly the memo said, e.g., any reason given, etc.
Even then it’d be much more Occam’s Razorish to simply assume WaPo created the memo themselves.

The Old Guard is the military unit tasked with protection of the Capital. The DC NG is pretty much tasked with traffic control. Two companies of the Old Guard would rout the entire DC NG.
