Prosecutors said they were not commenting yet on whether they will review the shooting by the driver because it is an ongoing investigation.

WTF is there to review?

...gun-friendly state with loose regulations.

Not a happy writer! But, a happy ending!

However, a CCW helps the gun purchase process. With a CCW the buyer walks out of the gun shop WITH their purchase that same day.

Not correct. With or without a CCW permit you take possession of the weapon upon purchase. You still have to fill out a 4473 but the FFL just doesn't have to phone it in, which saves you time and the FFL work.

The only benefits to having a permit that I can think of are interstate reciprocity and the fact that you can carry in an establishment that serves alchahol - if you're not drinking

In my state, if you qualified with a weapon in the military within 10 years, you could skip the CC course. Still had to pay the money and fill out the paperwork and it is a standard CC with all the same restrictions.

Doesn’t sound right to me. There’s no federal veteran CCW exemption that I’m aware of. Every time I went TDY, I had to check the reciprocity chart to see if I could pack my weapon. Being a JAG, I’m kinda sensitive that way...

It varies by state, my last state, CC was accepted as the back ground check. In my current state CC has no bearing in a gun purchase and back ground check is required.

Prosecutor is not required to comment on an active case, say the case is still being reviewed and you can brush off the liberal journalist.

Well, he worked as a security consultant after leaving the AF. I know he has a Washington state CCW, and has "range time" at one of the local military bases regularly. When he gets back home, I'll ask him. This may not have been for CCW, but for "gun possession" in anti-gun states. I know he is "carrying" in his RV in a secured, lockable box, and expected not to have problems with state law enforcement if stopped.

We should also add that the AZ CCP gives you reciprocity with about 32 states, allows you to carry when a Federal statute requires same in specific circumstances (1000 ft of a school) when State Law is silent.

Likewise, it identifies you to Law Enforcement as to being a legal possessor at time of issue.

He probably did not have the gun on his person, because he was headed to California, and the gun has to be unloaded and locked up in that state.

Might be thinking of LEOSA. If he had arrest power in the military, he could qualify as retired law enforcement under LEOSA.

Once you pass a fedearal course and have that federal license, you should be able to carry anywhere in the United States.

I was just looking to find a state that will issue a CCW to a non-resident. Arizona is such a state.

I live in Idaho and have CCW permits in two other states.
