It is fitting that presidents give farewell messages. But given the venue and setting President Obama had chosen, it was fairly easy to surmise that this would be a final political rally and national lecture.
I will simply recount the one lasting legacy of Barack Obama that will always be emblazoned in my memory. When I think of him, I will think of this. When I reflect on his promised era of hope and change, I will be drawn to this image.
Despite your personal feelings on his coolness, his character, his charisma, or his competence, Barack Obama will forever be the president who worked diligently to put the gun of government to the heads of the Little Sisters of the Poor, demanding that they either pay to destroy children in the womb or be crushed.
You can't candy-coat that. You can't hide it. You can't pretend it wasn't what it was. For 177 years, the Little Sisters of the Poor has been a large Roman Catholic religious ministry that takes vows of chastity, poverty, obedience, and hospitality. Serving the Kingdom of God on earth in over 30 countries, they have one stated mission: to care for impoverished people as they near the end of their lives. As Ashley McGuire describes it, "The only fight they go looking for is to make the last days of some very downtrodden people brighter and happier, to send as many people into the next life surrounded by love, not garbage."
Barack Obama knew that, personally. Regardless, he instructed his administration to rewrite executive regulations nine separate times to ensure these nuns be forced to either violate their conscience by helping distribute abortifacients or be fined $70 million a year and out of existence.

I do hope that you see their smiling faces reflecting the love of God.
They do not cover their faces.
With you there.
Benghazi is another example of pure evil.
Barack Hussein Obama, fascist.
Although, keep in mind, the habit hasn't disappeared completely...
The Poor Clares, for one. They have a monastery right near me in Alexandria, VA
And yes, they do have young novices. They're not dying out!
“Why the hijabs?”
What kind of a nasty comment is that?
Little man indeed. Only idiots can not see it.
Covering up crosses is the one act that defined him for me.
It’s one thing to be badly educated and poorly-read. But to be so ignorant/arrogant as to fail to realize it, or recognize how much you’re embarrassing yourself - that rises to another level of pitiable.
The man has made me cringe so many times that the fun people make of Trump is laughable.
Yes “according to the media” he is very popular yet. I do not believe it. If that was so, Trump would never have won. It was those folks who were paying attention to the facts of this administration who voted for DJT, not the folks who do not really care. I wish I had been polled. I will bet that the question posed was specific as to his family life and nothing about his policies.
I am also tired of hearing how educated people voted for Hillary - Educated people with stupid majors from leftist colleges.
At Georgetown University, no less.
Although, it IS the Jesuits, so one shouldn't be too surprised by the acquiescence.
This, and throwing Israel under the bus only when he faced no personal consequences (well, here on Earth, that is).
The issue is moot since the Court ruled in their favor anyway. But there are ways around this that preserve the sacred work of the Sisters and remain true to the Church’s canons.
Good article. However, I don’t believe Elie Wiesel spent 22 years in a Cuban prison.
Yes, I remember reading about the legal options available to them as a last resort.
It's a testament to the degree of evil the Obama administration possessed (IMHO Jarret was behind it) for them to want to drive the Sisters out and turn those hospices into secular government institutions.
Yep. Great legacy, eh? About the same flavor as that of Herod or Pontius Pilate.
It showed that not only was he an incredibly rude person; but he was the ultimate liar (claiming to be Christian). Lighting up the White Hut with rainbow colors is a close second.
I will give you 2 memories that are indicative of his shallowness and why it is okay, and even proper, to revile him:
.
The first is when he accused the Boston police officer of acting “stupidly”.
.
The other was this year when he told a crowd that the thing he was going to miss most about being President was traveling in that big black limo - I think he calls it “the Beast”. (but maybe that was a reference to Michelle...?)
Ping for later
Got a new tagline. Thank you Peter.
