Rebecca Ferguson will not sing at inauguration

Rebecca Ferguson has issued another statement about her request to perform the 1937 protest song Strange Fruit at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on Jan. 20.

The British The X-Factor alum further explained why she had asked to sing that specific song, writing, “I wasn’t comfortable with the song choice made on my behalf, and although I’m very blessed to have a gift that gives me amazing opportunities, as a mother and an artist, I had to defend my stance. That is why I made the decision to sing ‘Strange Fruit’ when I was invited.”

Ferguson also cited her support for the #BlackLivesMatter movement, explaining, “I wanted to create a moment of pause for people to reflect.”

But, ultimately, she will not perform. “There are many grey areas about the offer for me to perform that I’m unable to share right now, but I will not be singing,” Ferguson wrote. “However, I genuinely wish your nation nothing but love. I would also like to pay homage to a few of your great female artists: Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, and the brave and remarkable Eartha Kitt and her beautiful untold story.”

Ferguson follows in a long line of stars who have declined to participate at the inauguration including Welsh singer Charlotte Church, Grammy-winning producer David Foster, Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, and KISS.

Never heard of her and don’t care to hear anymore of her. But as typical of the self-important liberal mindset, I was not surprised to read the following:

> “I wanted to create a moment of pause for people to reflect.”

Control Freak with a small brain and narrow range of human experience. No thank you.

It’s not about her. It’s about America celebrating a new President.

I pity her children, husbands, future boyfriends, and other assorted partners.

Whose bright idea was this anyway?

I hope it’s some kind of mistake and not indicative of leftist operatives on the Trump team.

There is a connection between the song-writer and the Rosenbergs also.
Agenda, always agenda, never just plain people.

“”Abel Meeropol’s pen name ‘Lewis Allan’ were the names of their children who were stillborn, who never lived,” says his son, Robert Meeropol. He and his older brother, Michael, were raised by Abel and his wife, Anne Meeropol, after the boys’ parents — Ethel and Julius Rosenberg — were executed for espionage in 1953.”

I was hopefully that Mike Luv would play with the Beach Boys.

But looks like he is just another cuckoo.

Rebecca Ferguson’s yodeling of “Strange Fruit” at the Inauguration in Washington DC would’ve been worse than James Taylor’s slow-moaning and strumming through “You’ve Got A Friend” after the Islamic terrorist attacks in France. John F-n’ Kerry must be moonlighting as an agent for pop stars. I can’t imagine what’s on his Ipod. Probably doesn’t even have In-a-gadda-da-vida. If he does it’s probably the edited version.

“Rebecca Ferguson”

Just because you can sing, doesn’t mean you can think.

Strange Fruit--Billie Holiday (1939)

A hit record in 1939, "Strange Fruit" is Communist to the core. It was written in 1937 by Abel Meeropol, a Communist who later adopted the children of atom spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Billie Holiday was accompanied by the house band of the Cafe Society in New York City which was owned by Barney Josephson, also a Communist, as was Frank Newton, who led the band.

Anne Lennox sang this song on her CD and was vilified by some lefties. They said she did not understand the significance of the song. She did know and sang it very beautifully. I recall an interview she did. She was really upset.

Too bad Maya Angelou is deceased. She could have recited one of her fantastic poems just like she did at the Klinton inauguration. I think it was about a stone, or perhaps a rock or boulder.

I love it when women play the mother card to defend their stupidity.

Mom could have sung for the President of the United States, but she opted to be a rude ingrate instead.

That should be something her children will cherish for a long long time.

I said it before. Give independent artists, everyday Americans, students, etc. a chance to perform. Screw Hollywood/music industry.
