Stars sick of their fellow entertainers' political rants

Not everyone in Hollywood is a fan of Meryl Streep.

Streep is now facing backlash from those in the entertainment industry who feel her anti-Trump speech at Sunday night's Golden Globes was "hypocritical" and out-of-line for a Hollywood star.

Country star Travis Tritt took to Twitter to offer his "advice to all actors."

"Advice to all actors, musicians and entertainers: Please stick to your crafts that we all love you for and drop the political rhetoric," he tweeted.

If you have fans who respect your talent enough to spend hard earned money to see your talent, be thankful and gracious and leave it at that— Travis Tritt (@Travistritt) January 9, 2017

Piers Morgan echoed Tritt's words, adding he hasn't "heard such elitist snobbery since Hillary Clinton branded Trump supporters 'a basket of deplorables.'"

What you don’t like the same song, different droning “artist” screeching lets get drunk, screw, party, get drunk screw, never ending HickHop bilge they call country music!

Currently country music ranks right there with rap music in my book. I turn them off when the first tone hits the radio. Thank God for classic country and outlaw country on XM.

Tom Petty was quick to get on the anti-confederate flag bandwagon the day the elites declared that flag a symbol of hatred.

Instead of defending his values, he pooped on them so as to protect his revenue stream, so screw him.

I hope he dies poor. Sadly his hooks are simple and addicting.

“Dear Hollywood celebrities,

You exist for my entertainment. Some of you are great eye candy. Some of you can deliver a line with such conviction that you bring tears to my eyes. Some of you can scare the crap out of me. Others make me laugh. But you all have one thing in common, you only have a place in my world to entertain me. That’s it.

You make your living pretending to be someone else. Playing dress up like a 6 year old. You live in a make believe world in front of a camera. And often when you are away from one too.
Your entire existence depends on my patronage.

I’ll crank the organ; you dance.

I don’t really care where you stand on issues. Honestly, your stance matters far less to me than that of my neighbor. You see, you aren’t real. I turn off my TV or shut down my computer and you cease to exist in my world. Once I am done with you, I can put you back in your little box until I want you to entertain me again.

I don’t care that you think the BP executives deserve the death penalty. But I bet you looked cute saying it.

And you? Really? I’m supposed to care what the director of fluffy tripe made for gullible people thinks about global warming or gun control? Get back into your bubble. I’ll let you know when I’m in the mood for something blue and shiny.

Make me laugh, or cry. Scare me. But realize that the only words of yours that matter are scripted. I might agree with some of you from time to time, but it doesn’t matter. In my world, you exist solely for my entertainment

So, shut your pie hole and dance!”

I find the Right’s interest in K Dramas, and by extension most foreign forms of entertainment, fascinating.

IMO, It all boils down to “Our pop culture offers us nothing of value, so we must look elsewhere for entertainment that does not offend our beliefs”.

Piers has kind of been on a roll since our election. I wonder what has gotten into him?

Maybe Jeremy Clarkson's punch knocked some sense into him...

I’ve disliked her ever since the old days when she upset the apple industry with her ignorant “expert” claims about Alar. A lot of folks took a serious financial hit, yet she never looked back.

My guess would be hearing the words "You're Fired" from Donald Trump. ;-)

The two are reportedly very good friends.

Dixie Chicks were/are aiming for a country fan base. Meryl Streep is not. No comparison.

Based on the pics above, need to cut out apples and oats and keep her on hay for a couple of months.

H. L. Mencken nails it. Of course this applies to actresses also. Ditto, all entertainers, especially singers.

“Of all actors, the most offensive to the higher cerebral centers is the one who pretends to intellectuality. His alleged intelligence, of course, is purely imaginary: no man of genuinely superior intelligence has ever been an actor. Even supposing a young man of appreciable mental powers to be lured to the stage, as philosophers are occasionally lured to bordellos, his mind would be inevitably and almost immediately destroyed by the gaudy nonsense issuing from his mouth every night. That nonsense enters into the very fiber of the actor. He becomes a grotesque boiling down of all the preposterous characters that he has impersonated. Their characteristics are seen in his manner, in his reactions to stimuli, in his point of view. He becomes a walking artificiality, a strutting dummy, a thematic catalogue of imbecilities.”

The truth is there are a lot more conservatives in Hollywood than conventional wisdom suggests. Granted, they’re usually not social conservatives but they’re closer to Trump than to Clinton. I’ll bet you that a lot of ‘stars’ disagree with Streep’s lunacy.
