While there had been rumors swirling for a while, I was still highly disappointed when I saw a tweet coming from the office of New Yorks Governor this morning proclaiming his victory in moving to close the Indian Point nuclear power plant.

Indian Point produces 10% of total electricity for NY state and 25% for the Westchester County and NYC. Where are they going to come up with substitute power? Eliminate clean, including CO2, power for more carbon emmissions? I had a field trip to Indian Point when I attended school.

Who owns the plant?
The state of New York? I doubt it.
I predict the plant will continue running under a new president.

Hydro Quebec.

Simple. Force rolling blackouts. When people complain, blame Republicans and gain votes. Problem solved.

Here in Assachusetts they are planning on shutting down the Pilgrim nuclear plant. Gov. Baker is trying to replace the power with hydro from Quebec. All of the proposed natural gas pipelines have gone nowhere, afflicted with NIMBYism.

I used to listen to the Yankees, well, because they'd interrupt my usual talk radio shows, usually on Thursday afternoon games...
Any way, Indian Point would do promotional spots.

They need the power plant to shut down so they can tax the carbon that will replace it................

So NYers will get power from Quebec damming all the rivers leading to the Hudson Bay causing environmental havoc in that region. Yeap that is the ticket.

Now that I think about it, didn’t Papa Cuomo destroy a LI Nuke plant before it was initially fueled, and the rate payers had a nice additionally monthly charge added to compensate ConEd?
To: Calvin Locke
Yeap it was called Shoreham. $6 billion down the rat hole.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York is expected to confirm on Monday that the state has reached an agreement to shut down the Indian Point nuclear power plant, which sits less than 30 miles north of New York City, by April 2021, state officials said. Uhm he won't be in charge then and it will be reversed.

Next they’ll be raising electricity prices and asking people to help subsidize the poor.

Yeah, I wouldn’t worry about an interruption of service from ANY energy source in Canada for political reasons. Terrorists taking down the transmission lines, maybe, but not a war.
To: C19fan
If Westchester county residents want to pay a lot more for electricity, good for them, they voted for Cumo.

Everything the dems do is for political reasons, not practical reasons.
