The vast majority of Americans believe it is important to appoint justices to the Supreme Court who will apply the Constitution as originally set by the Founders and, in particular, protect religious freedom, according to a new Marist poll, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

Eight in 10 Americans, 80%, say it is an “immediate priority” or an “important” one “to appoint Supreme Court justices that will interpret the Constitution as it was originally written,” according to a statement from the Knights of Columbus.

In addition, a majority of Americans — 52% to 40% — “want the court to interpret the Constitution ‘as it was originally written’ and not on what they think the ‘Constitution means now,’” according to the poll. Even three in 10 Democrats (31%) agreed with this view, although six in 10 (59%) did not. For Republicans, 78% agreed, and Independents, 50% agreed. …

Per “man on the street” interviews, the other 20% don’t know what a constitution is. /s

I doubt that 10% have any idea of what a constitution is/was, much less what it says. 50% of the people in this country voted for a commie turd...twice!! Now 80% say this?!

This is a slap right across Harvard Law School's dogma. And the legacy of the ineligible Brack O... ‘original intent’ would have never let him move into public housing.

Poll: 80% Want Justices Who Apply Constitution as Originally Written

This is a perfect example of why President-elect Trump has the potential to be such a great leader. With his ability to connect directly with the American People, a skill which far exceeds anything 0bama possesses, President Trump will be able to gain their support on a wide variety of policy issues. In such cases, this strong consensus of support among the People will help vanquish entrenched Establishment opposition.

If they don't clean up their act, Donald Trump's ability (and willingness) to bypass the Establishment and Media (but I repeat myself) is going to obliterate their relevancy.

Before too long, the major news networks will be striving to outdo each other in their ardor to cover president Trump in a fair and balanced manner. Why? Because those networks that perform that task well are going to cash in during the Trump era—and those that don't will be relegated to fighting over scraps.

We The People are sick and tired of being ripped off, manipulated, and exploited by slick politicians and lying race-baiters who seem hellbent on fomenting dangerous division amongst us.

Though the struggle will be long and arduous, I believe that the Trump era will weather a challenging beginning, but before long an amazing change will occur in this nation, and the vast majority of the People will join the Revolution, embrace its leaders, roll up their sleeves, and get to work making America great again...

I doubt the results of this poll as reflecting the population. Obama voters want a judge that dictates marxist dogma. Thay’s way more that 20 percent.

Has anybody followed the links to the source of this article? It’s not about constitutionalism.

Anyway, I think that less than 5% of the people understand what our Constitution’s design would require of judges.

The title says 80%, but the article says 52%.

Actually the article gives the 80% figure for appointing a justice who will apply as written, and the 52% figure for the entire court to apply as written, which seems like a real disconnect, so something is off here.
